R2-D2 was part of the repair crew for the Naboo Royal Starship. He technically is owned by Naboo's elected royalty until Padme took him along for her senator duties. By the Clone Wars, Padme gave him to Anakin as she felt a droid like R2 was far more useful to aid Anakin.
The Invasion of Naboo. R2-D2 repairs the shield generator of Queen Amidala's Royal Starship. In 32 BBY, R2-D2 was in the possession of the Royal Engineers of Naboo, and was assigned aboard Queen Amidala's Royal Starship as a maintenance droid.
Anakin Skywalker, a Tatooine slave boy, was gifted in engineering -- and was strong with the Force. To help his mother, Shmi, he secretly built a droid: C-3PO. In his earliest form, Threepio had no outside covering, and so appeared “naked,” with his internal parts and motors showing.
After C-3PO and R2-D2 landed on Tatooine, Jawas picked up the two droids, fitting them with restraining bolts. The Jawas sold the robots to Owen and Beru Lars and their nephew Luke Skywalker, a seemingly minor event that would change the fate of trillions in the galaxy.
The bond between The Chosen One and R2-D2 goes back to as far as the beginning of the prequel trilogy. They first met aboard Queen Amidala's starfighter during Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Anakin was still very young, so he grew up and became a Jedi with R2 at his side.

So Owen had no idea his "new" protocol droid's name was C-3PO. A counter to that might be asking why Owen didn't recognize C-3PO's distinct voice, but again, it's worth remembering Owen hadn't seen C-3PO in more than 20 years. It's possible Owen simply forgot what C-3PO's voice sounded like.
In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, set approximately 30 years after Return of the Jedi, R2-D2 is revealed to be kept in storage at the Resistance base on the planet D'Qar, having put himself in a low-power mode after Luke Skywalker's disappearance.
After a chase through an asteroid field, the Falcon escapes to Cloud City at Bespin. While exploring a room in Cloud City, C-3PO is blasted by an off-camera stormtrooper.
in the Dark Horse comic series star Wars Tales, which is now part of legends, it's revealed that Darth Vader did recognize C. 3PO on Cloud City. when 3PO was shot by Stormtroopers, his parts were brought before Vader. because the Imperials thought he could hold valuable.
Abrams also named the character, saying, "I named him BB-8 because it was almost onomatopoeia. It was sort of how he looked to me, with the 8, obviously, and then the two B's." The name was conceived early on in the film's production and was one of the few to remain unchanged.
R2 was later able to restore his companion during the Battle of Geonosis. After the battle, R2-D2 and C-3PO were the sole witnesses to the marriage of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala in Lake Country. After this Padmé gave ownership of R2 to Anakin while she kept 3PO.
R2-D2 was almost constantly around Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars, serving as his personal astromech. C-3PO, however, was property of Padmé Amidala after Anakin gave him to her as a wedding gift.
He did not reveal the truth for the same reason that Obi-wan Kenobi did not reveal the full truth. R2-D2 was in on the scheme to keep the secret away from Luke and Leia.
Bane is looking for information about the Senate building on behalf of Jabba the Hutt. Finding C-3PO devoid of useful information, Bane and his accomplices kidnap R2-D2 and extract the vital data, before memory-wiping the droids of the incident, and letting them on their way.
Do R2D2 and C3PO know that Darth Vader is Anakin? Threepio had his memory wiped at the end of Revenge of the Sith. He doesn't even know Anakin was Anakin.
Shmi informs Qui-Gon that Anakin has no father, leading Qui-Gon to suggest that Anakin is a product of midi-chlorians (Force-imparting microorganisms). As the film progresses, Anakin leaves Tatooine to begin his Jedi training.
However, one theory argues that Obi-Wan did recognize R2-D2, but he chose to pretend not to in order to avoid telling Luke the full truth. This would explain certain signs of familiarity between the Jedi and the droid and fit Obi-Wan's pattern of subtly lying to Luke.
Anthony Daniels, as C-3PO, is the only actor to have appeared in all nine films of the Skywalker saga, which launched with 1977's "A New Hope."(Lucasfilm Ltd.)
Although Lucas portrayed R2-D2 as a defiant droid who refused to listen to his master's orders, the theory video claims R2-D2 wouldn't stay with the ship because the last time he did that, Anakin never came back.
During the Clone Wars, it was common practice to wipe the minds of astromech droids after every mission to avoid the risk of Separatists taking valued information. But Anakin remained staunchly against this idea for R2-D2, meaning the droid never had to worry about losing the memories of his past.
Darth Vader can not use force lighting, because of his severed arms. Robotic hands can't summon the force lighting. However Darth Vader can still use other forms of the force, such as force choke.
