Galen Burke is the biological father of Samara Morgan, he made his first real appearance in Rings. According to Evelyn Borden, there was no father, but in reality the father was Burke, a priest who abducted a young Evelyn and kept her in a hidden chamber beneath a bell tower.
Samara was born in 1970 to her mother, Evelyn. Her father, Burke, was a priest who raped her mother and kept her captive, only letting her free when she was eight months pregnant.
In Rings, the film expands further back on Evelyn's backstory. Evelyn (Kayli Carter) was kidnapped by a local priest, Galen Burke (Vincent D'Onofrio), who raped and impregnated her, which led to Samara's conception during Evelyn's captivity.
Samara was once a child gifted with the psychic ability known as nensha. As she was unable to control this ability, Samara would mentally affect those around her, including her adoptive mother Anna. As a baby, her birth mother, Evelyn attempted to drown her, as Samara had told her to do so telepathically.
Evelyn Borden was the biological mother of Samara Morgan and for a majority of her life a patient in a mental institution. She is mentioned and shown in The Ring 2 which explains it all: she came to a Catholic hospital pregnant with Samara, claiming that the father was a demon from the sea.

Why was Samara killed by her mother?
Richard Morgan apparently put a stop to that and tries to hinder any more attention on the "little monster" Samara (apparently out of concern for society). Anna, out of sheer torment and maybe also out of concern for society, kills Samara by throwing her down the well.
As Samara grew up, she developed strange supernatural powers known as nensha, which enabled her to unintentionally burn gruesome images into her parents' minds whenever she was around. Having no knowledge over her powers, her powers unintentionally spiraled out of control as Samara grew up.
The video tape's curse was created by Samara likely after her death in the well. Having a miserable and lonely life, Samara was nearly drowned at birth by her mother Evelyn, nearly drove her adoptive parents mad, and was eventually pushed down a well to her death seven days later.
At the end of the movie, it showed Rachel and her son watching it and making a copy, and her telling her son it's going to be okay. Samara keeps killing if the person that watches the tape doesn't make a copy. She wants her story to be told.
This revenge-hungry ghost has the ability to curse you through a videotape, frighten you to death, possess your mind and make your death look like an accident.
Basically, she was evil (it is never specified how, but she realises it and enjoys hurting people), and after many attempts her adoptive parents managed to bump her off. Between then and 2002, her ghost somehow created a cursed tape. Samara uses the video tape as a vessel to kill people.
Rachel was only spared because she had made a copy of the tape, helping Samara circulate her evil. She forces Aidan to make a copy so he, too, may be spared. Others, though, will continue to watch…and die.
Rachel realizes Aidan may be possessed by Samara. Max takes them in. While Rachel is attempting to give Aidan a bath, he develops an irrational fear of water. Samara causes the water to recede from the bath, replacing Aidan with herself, and terrorizing Rachel so that she tries to drown Samara.
This fruit is called a samara. The wings enable the wind to carry the seeds farther from the mother plant than seeds without appendages that aid in seed dispersal. Some samaras hang alone or in clusters from tree branches.
The doctor played by Jane Seymour explains that animals sense things faster than humans. When Samara was kept in the attic, she said the noise the horses made bothered her, so she psychically attacked them, and made them all terrified of her to the point of running into the sea and killing themselves.
Here at Riverwood, we're fortunate to have a variety of maple trees, including the sugar, maple, red, Norway, and Manitoba. All of these maple trees produce winged seeds called samaras. You can often find squirrels stretching and balancing on the trees to reach them for a snack.
The only way to prevent Sadako/Samara from killing you in seven days after watching the her cursed video tape is to make a copy and show it to someone else (Sadako and Samara) or watch it backwards (Samara).
What does Rachel pull out of her throat in The Ring?

However, a distressed Aidan tells Rachel that “Samara never sleeps”, meaning that she will be continuing her murder spree to quench her thirst for vengeance.
As with the original Japanese film Ring, the title of The Ring can be interpreted as referring to the telephone call which warns those who watched the cursed tape that they will die in seven days, as well as to the view of the ring of light seen from the bottom of the well where Samara was left to die.
Once outside, Samara tells Falere that the Justicar Code forbids an Ardat-Yakshi living outside the monastery, and since there is no monastery she must die. However, Samara cannot bring herself to kill her last surviving child, so she chooses to kill herself instead.
The Ring is one of the best American horror movies based on Japanese films and Samara Morgan is based on the character Sadako Yamamura in the 1998 Japanese horror movie Ring, which was adapted from the novel by Koji Suzuki which was published in 1991.
Even if our characters have won this battle, it doesn't mean that they've won the war. The Ring reminds us all that we cannot escape death. We can only prolong life. Death will always be right around the corner, waiting for us, whether we're ready for it or not.
