The boy seems stunned when he opens her gift which is supposed to be a model train. Instead the box contains the bloody body of Mustache. Rose cradles the dead cat (thankfully a fake or CGI) and begs the party goers to believe she had nothing to do with the cat's demise or placement in the present.
