He is a Squib, like Mrs. Figg, but since he spends most of his life surrounded by gifted wizarding children, his hatred is probably the result of bitterness and envy. Filch has always made it clear that he would like to discipline the kids more firmly for their rule-breaking, but Professor Dumbledore never lets him.
Decades of being around wizard students who reminded him of his inability to produce magic made Filch a bitter man who enjoyed punishing students, almost as revenge for his shortcomings. Dumbledore hired Filch as the Hogwarts caretaker, back in 1968.
Filch is an angry and bitter man who is jealous of the students for getting what he never could, magic. he has to clean up after their messes and chase them around the school when they have oppertunities he has always been denied.
His lack of magical ability has made Filch singularly unsuited for almost any work available in the wizarding world; the caretaker position at Hogwarts is likely the only occupation available to him.
The next school year, Filch was furious when Harry learned that he was a Squib. Then, he believed that Harry was the one who petrified Mrs. Norris, Filch's cat, as he was one of the few people who knew he was a Squib.

Is Mr. Filch Professor McGonagall's son?
No professor McGonagall is not Filch's mom. She was married to Elphinstone Urquhart who died later on and they didn't have any children. She did not have a child as mentioned by Harry when he yells out in Cursed child that McGonagall would not understand why he was worried about Albus because she never had a child.

Harry describes Umbridge to Sirius Black, saying that she's vile enough to be a Death Eater, despite not being one. Umbridge is also depicted to be a prejudiced person, despising half-breeds and Muggle-born witches and wizards to the point of firing Hagrid due to his half-giant birth status.

But no matter the conflict, Filch always carried a surly attitude that made him infamous among the students of the school. And while he wasn't a villain, he was probably the closest thing most young students experienced during their time at the school.
However, like in the real world, some magical members of certain families or groups have biases toward those who do not conform to a "pure-blood" status, such as being Muggle-born, a Squib or, in the case of Rubeus Hagrid, a half-breed. This prejudice may have affected the Hagrid family in a myriad of ways, but Mr.
Apparently, Umbridge's mother was a Muggle and her brother was a Squib – a source of huge embarrassment for the family. Perhaps their abandonment and retreat back into the Muggle world had such a huge impact on Umbridge that it became the catalyst for her Muggleborn-targeted cruelty later on in life.
Peter Pettigrew (a.k.a. Wormtail) is one of two Death Eaters known to have been in a House other than Slytherin (Gryffindor) while at Hogwarts. There, he was a close friend of Sirius Black, James Potter, and Remus Lupin, although he was the least intelligent and least talented of the group.

Argus Is Not Related To McGonagall (But The Movies Confused People) A common theory since the Harry Potter movies is that Filch was Professor Minerva McGonagall's son. The idea here is that it would explain how he got the job at Hogwarts, to begin with, since he was a Squib with no magical ability.
The marriage (cut tragically short, though it was destined to be) was a very happy one. Though they had no children of their own, Minerva's nieces and nephews (children of her brothers Malcolm and Robert) were frequent visitors to their home.
