At his basement lair, Gru is outraged that Otto has traded the zodiac stone for a pet rock, causing him to fire the Minions before going alone to find it.
After Gru is fired from the Anti-Villain League for failing to take down the latest “big bad”, washed up child star Balthazar Bratt, Gru finds himself in the midst of a major identity crisis.
So they betrayed him, leaving Knuckles alone and lonely. Gru thought he wanted to join the Vicious 6—so much so that he fired his loyal Minions once he was offered an interview with the group.
So the Minions, as these sort of child-like, irresponsible characters sort of help Gru's appeal. They all love him the way that children unequivocally, without question, love their parents.
In the second film, Gru leaves his villainous past behind to care for his adoptive daughters, but then soon joins forces - unwillingly - with secret agent Lucy Wilde, whom he later marries.

Do the Minions abandon Gru?
When Gru refuses to return to being a super-villain, and with his assistant Dr. Nefario accidentally frozen in carbonite, most of his Minions, led by Mel, abandon him to find new jobs. They eventually land in jail after accidentally crashing into a television studio.
Felonious Gru, better known by his surname Gru, is the main protagonist of Illumination's Despicable Me franchise. He was originally an infamous supervillain with goals of becoming the greatest villain of all time, until he retires from villainy and becomes a family man after adopting three adorable orphan girls.
In the first prequel, the single-cell organisms from which Minions would evolve include a selection of single-eyed specimens alongside their two-eyed brethren. Narratively, the cyclops Minion has evidently existed throughout time and is not the result of later design or development, but natural biology.
In Despicable Me, it's mentioned that the Minions are from a single mutated strand of DNA during one of the extras movies. It's assumed that Gru made them. But in the Minions movie, they evolve along with all other life on Earth.
This is really the biggest problem. A Despicable Me movie really doesn't need this many plot threads. Most of the time the movie just jumps around to each one and it comes off as being unfocused. Kids will probable be fine with it and it is enjoyable enough, but I don't think it's as good as the other three.

As a result of failing to capture Bratt, Gru and Lucy are fired from the AVL by its unreasonable new Director Valerie Da Vinci (Jenny Slate), following the retirement of the AVL's former Director, Silas Ramsbottom (Steve Coogan).
Because the Minions have existed since the dawn of time, it is reasonable to assume that they will live on forever. The Minions also seem not to age and are shown to have a high degree of invulnerability, surviving otherwise deadly encounters and dangers.

Heterochromia is more common in cats, dogs, cattle and horses than in humans … but apparently it occurs in Minions, too!
The company says the color came about after Pharrell Williams, who sings the song “Happy” from the Despicable Me 2 film, first came up with the idea and the Pantone team worked with animators at Illumination Entertainment to nail down the specific shade of Minion yellow.
Minionese, as it became known, is a synthesis of various languages, including English, Filipino, French, Hindi, Korean, and even Spanish, despite the fact that Minions don't speak a language.
As seen in Despicable Me 2, after the first minion became a purple one, he lost his goggles and his eyesight dramatically diminished, and he was no longer able to see properly. The goggles, or glasses, are a way for them to see the world and help their masters, without it all being blurry and confusing.

Being an occasionally-idiotic henchman is a man's job only because women wouldn't be so silly as to act the way Kevin, Stuart, Bob and co do. His exact height is not specified in the movies, but he is often portrayed as towering over other characters, with a stature that appears to be well above the average height for a human. In the films, Gru is typically shown to be around 14 feet (4.27 meters) tall.
Gru seems to be very wealthy, as indicated that he pays each of the minions wages, and there are over 10,000 minions. Although, it is also indicated that much of his money comes from the Bank.
