As Jack secretly negotiates his freedom with Beckett, Elizabeth is handed over to Feng, who believes she is Calypso, while the rest of the crew make for Shipwreck Cove aboard the Pearl. Jack throws Will off the ship as part of a plan to seize control of the Dutchman.
Will Turner seems to betray Jack on every occasion he can. In Dead Man's Chest, he ends up hunting Jack to save Elizabeth from being sentenced to death, all to give the compass to Lord Beckett.
Why was Salazar freed when Jack gave the compass to Will?
I think the best explanation is that Salazar was only released when Jack intended to give away the compass permanently, as he did when he traded it at the bar. In the earlier movies, Jack probably only meant to lend it to Elizabeth and then Will, with the intention of getting it back later.
And now on to the third movie where Jack makes his big choice to save Will after the latter is stabbed by Davy Jones. This is the ultimate moment for his character. Jack finds himself in a position where even if he does help others he knows he won't exactly gain anything noteworthy out of it in return.
Orlando Bloom reprises his role as Will Turner in the fifth film, seen with barnacles forming upon his face, implying he's failing at the responsibilities as Captain of the Flying Dutchman.
Because Jack didn't actually want to become Captain of the Flying Dutchman. He just wanted to not be dead,and controlling the heart meant Davy Jones (or the Kraken) wouldn't kill him. Stabbing the heart was mostly a backup plan. Because being immortal and living forever isn't the same thing as living forever.
However, this power had one major weakness: Salazar could never set foot on dry land as it would destroy him unless he was wielding the Trident of Poseidon or possessing a living person. Possession - Salazar could possess and control living people, as he did to Henry Turner.

However, during Barbossa's incantation which undid the spell that bound her to mortal flesh, Calypso learned of Jones' betrayal. Now free, Calypso's wrath became horrible to behold as the enraged goddess gathered the waters of the ocean around herself in a massive maelstrom, where a battle raged at the center of it.
In their time together, Jack stole her innocence; thus Angelica was unable to take her vows. Although they were in love, Jack would soon leave her through unknown circumstances, after which time Angelica became a formidable female pirate.
Salazar is more of a spirit and dead whereas Jones has power over the dead and even death itself. I feel like Jones would win this one. Salazar's crew is intangible. Everything passes through them and they can even walk on water.
4. How did Davy Jones become a squid? After Calypso's betrayal, Davy Jones carved his heart and locked it in the Dead Man's Chest. He abandoned his duty and turned into an ugly monster with an octopus-like face, tentacle beard, and crab legs and hands.

When Captain Jack Sparrow was given the Black Spot by Bootstrap Bill Turner, and told he was required to repay his debt to Davy Jones, Sparrow embarked upon a quest to locate the Dead Man's Chest, in order to save himself from a life of servitude to Jones.
It's mouth alone is 5 times bigger than Captain Jack, maybe bigger. We see it's true size in At World's End and in Dead Man's when William is thrown underwater. With tentacles that big, the Kraken was still only able to sink the Pearl, not break it in half. So, the Pearl is simply built different.
When Gibbs tells Will that Sparrow escaped from a desert island by strapping two sea turtles together, Sparrow embellishes the story by claiming the rope was made from hair from his own back, while in reality, Sparrow escaped the island by bartering with rum traders.
