The revamped Jason was unpopular among readers, who disliked his rebellious, impulsive nature. A scene in Batman #424 (June 1988) in which Jason seemingly breaks Batman's no-kill rule and lies about it was particularly controversial.
If Grayson is the humanization of Batman, and Drake is the idealization of Batman, then Jason represents the perversion of Batman. It was Jason's way of showing Batman that he was back and that he had forgiven him. A much smaller version of this symbol could also be seen on the wall (near the door) on the outside of the storage depot where Batman surrendered to Scarecrow.
Though he never voiced it, Batman did privately admit that he didn't go searching for Jason because he was afraid of what he would find. He knew Jason was killing people, and Batman couldn't live with the shame of knowing that he had unintentionally created a deadlier version of Joe Chill.
Not only having literal years on Red Hood in the crime-fighting department considering Jason was dead for a long time, Nightwing is also more of an exploitative tactician compared to Jason and would handily outsmart — and considering his penchant for cracking jokes and pushing buttons — outplay Jason easily by turning ...
So although Red Hood and Nightwing are on better terms in real life than this nightmare suggests, their tumultuous relationship is still one that's a work in progress. Red Hood might see Nightwing as the antagonist at times, but at least these problems are all in his head… well, mostly.

TLDR: Superman didn't save Jason because he was being tortured by Lex Luthor at the time in order for Luthor to create Conner Kent/Superboy . This is why he wants nothing to do with Superboy once he appears.
In Gotham Knights, things are a little different, and it's noted by Jason Todd's physical appearance. Instead of being beaten and then blown up by Joker, he was kidnapped and tortured. This is shown by the scars on his body, and most notably, on the side of his cheek, as if Joker was trying to carve a smile.

While fighting with each other, Tim makes the remark that, "The crowbars are a little bit morbid, no?" Jason responds by correcting them that he wasn't actually killed by a crowbar, he was killed by the bomb that the Joker detonated after Jason tried to get his mother to safety.
In the DC Universe, few characters are as divisive as Red Hood. He's not a traditional hero, nor is he a villain. Instead, he occupies a gray area, using his skills and his willingness to break the rules to fight crime in his own way.

But, rather than blaming The Dark Knight or Joker for his gruesome death, he blames himself. Infamously, during the "Death in the Family" story arc, Jason Todd discovers that the woman he had long believed to be his biological mother was actually a stepmother.
