According to said American Library Association, the books have been banned or challenged “due to insensitivity, offensive language, violence, anti-family, anti-ethic, and occult/satanic” along with the 2014 addition of “inserted religious views.”
The film contains segments of intense violence involving Hunger Game contestants viciously slaughtering each other with a variety of weapons including hunting knives, swords, spears and arrows as well as being physically bashed to death.
Challenged and presented to the Goffstown (NH) school board by a parent claiming that it gave her eleven-year-old nightmares and could numb other students to the effects of violence.
