In the comics, the yellow suit was initially a tribute to his father's boxing robe (from which he made the costume) being yellow, in the Netflix Show the robe was also yellow, so this could be the main reason, but it's a little weird if that's the case, because we had 3 seasons and Matt never even thought about this.
