This is called the “anchor point.” Katniss uses the under-the-chin anchor point commonly used by Olympic recurve archers, and we often see her drawing the bowstring past her anchor point, which is a no-no.
Katniss has her knuckles curled around the bowstring, which is not correct; the back of her hand should be flat and relaxed, and the bowstring placed closer to the first joint of her index, middle and ring fingers. It is revealed in Hunger Games that she has learned archery from her late farther. Her father made her first bow, which she keeps in a tree outside the District 12 border at the beginning of Hunger Games, in order to avoid any possible repercussion should the weapon be found in her home.
In the arena, a bow and arrows represent a different type of security. They allow Katniss to feel that she's able to protect herself. Consequently they give her confidence and a feeling of safety in the midst of uncertainty and hostility.
Other films have added this to scenes to increase tension, but this franchise appears to have been largely uninterested. Thus, Katniss' arrow supply is basically magic, allowing her to solve every problem by shooting ever more arrows at it.
Peeta pulls out his knife and Katniss instinctually points her arrow at his heart, but Peeta just tosses the knife into the lake. He tells her to kill him. Ashamed, Katniss refuses, deciding that to go back without Peeta would mean that a part of her would never escape the arena.

In Mockingjay, Katniss defied Gale's wishes when he was captured because she didn't want to see him dead. It seems like a nice thing for her to do, especially since Gale is soon able to escape out of the Peacekeepers' grasp because of the rebellion's "distraction".

Katniss comes close to crying, something she knows she mustn't do because it would indicate weakness to the other tributes and make her look vulnerable; thankfully, Haymitch distracts the crowd and the cameras by stumbling off stage.
Guns are never used in the Hunger Games—because they would give the wielder an unfair advantage—but are instead used by Peacekeepers and the Panem military. They are manufactured in District 2, which is also where most Peacekeepers and soldiers come from.
Katniss has a few major weaknesses, all of which contribute to making her a realistic, well-rounded character. She can't deal with injuries; they make her feel sick. She can be very rash, making snap decisions that don't always work out for her and her allies.

Admittedly, this aspect could very well be Katniss' hallucinogenic tracker jacker stings working against her, but she does have to break Glimmer's fingers to retrieve the bow the other tribute was carrying, adding to the scene's grimness.
