Katniss feels betrayed. She feels that Peeta has been taking advantage of her by making her think he's her friend, that he cares about her. She also feels relieved that they don't have to pretend to be friends anymore. This will make it easier during the Games, as eventually, one of them will have to kill the other.
Because Katniss feels betrayed by his request, she realizes that she must have trusted him at some point, but decides that it will be easier now if they stop pretending being friends since they will eventually have to try to kill one another.

Katniss later begins to seriously distrust Peeta when she realizes that he's teamed with the Career Tributes; that he stayed and fought at the Cornucopia, suggesting he had planned to do so all along; and that he may helping the Careers to find her.

Why does Peeta lose his leg?
Peeta urges Katniss to run and stays to fight fellow tribute Cato while she escapes. He survives the encounter with Cato but suffers a stab wound on his leg. He camouflages himself into the rocks and mud alongside a riverbank, slowly dying of blood poisoning until Katniss finds him days later.
Katniss had lost her trust in Peeta when she realized he had allied with the Careers. She assumed he was helping them to find her in exchange for remaining alive longer himself.
Toward the end of the novel, Katniss realizes that Haymitch has been keeping information from her and using her to help the rebellion, causing her to feel extremely betrayed. On the other hand, his goals are generally good ones.

When Clove saw Thresh holding a large rock, she screamed for Cato. Thresh smashed the rock into her temple, denting her skull. Cato ran to her after hearing her cries, but Clove died in Cato's arms as he begged her to stay with him.
“You love me: real or not real?” Peeta asks, and Katniss responds, “Real.” Up until that point, she'd had a difficult time expressing her feelings without being made to feel like they were unimportant in the grand scheme of an uprising.
I'm re-reading the hunger games books in this glorious hg renaissance and I'm trying to figure out in my head how many days passed between cato stabbing peeta in the legs after the tracker jackers and Katniss finding him at the lake.
In the session with Haymitch, Katniss is coached on her interview skills with little to no luck. Katniss is hostile, angry, and has trouble talking about herself or her family. Haymitch says she has about as much charm "as a dead slug" (9.27). Haymitch coaches her to act humble.

Admittedly, this aspect could very well be Katniss' hallucinogenic tracker jacker stings working against her, but she does have to break Glimmer's fingers to retrieve the bow the other tribute was carrying, adding to the scene's grimness.
