In Frozen 2, Gale was named on the spot by Olaf after the element's mischief led to his "When I Am Older" musical number. It fits with Olaf's character that he would use a pun based on the spirit being windy, too.
Gale is one of the four elemental spirits in the Enchanted Forest, the others being the fire spirit Bruni, the Earth Giants, and the water spirit the Nokk. Gale—who gets her name from Olaf—is identified by leaves and other debris that sway through the air.

Is Olaf from Frozen a girl?
Olaf. Created from Elsa's magical powers, Olaf is by far the friendliest snowman in Arendelle. He is innocent, outgoing and loves all things summer. Olaf may be a bit naive, but his sincerity and good-natured temperament make him a true friend to Anna and Elsa.
