Count Dooku was a menacing Sith Lord and central figure in the Clone Wars. Once a Jedi -- trained by Yoda -- he became disillusioned with the Jedi Order and thirsted for greater power.
While it is true that his villainous actions brought about the rise of the Empire, the fallen Jedi truly believed that he was working toward the greater good. He was not a Sith in the same way that Darth Sidious or Darth Vader were but actually wanted to save the galaxy.
His best friend had been given a gift that could have allowed the Jedi to help countless people, but Yoda refused to act. As a Jedi, Dooku couldn't stand the thought that his best friend was suffering without a purpose, so he hated Yoda and the Jedi Order for that.
While Dooku may be powerful enough to hide his Sith eyes, there is another reason for his unusual appearance. Dooku's eyes were never yellow because he did not have the same motivation and emotions as other Sith. Dooku was an idealist who left the Jedi because he thought they had lost their way.
Without CIS Head of State Dooku as Sidious' influential face of the Separatist forces, there's also a strong possibility the Clone Wars wouldn't have been kicked off at all. Or at the very least they would've been delayed and the Jedi/Republic army would've no doubt been bolstered by such a revered Master as Dooku.
Dooku, AND Anakin, would be less likely to fall to the dark side if Qui-Gon was left alive and Maul's sympathetic past would never be revealed. For the former, Order 66 wouldn't be executed since Dooku wouldn't be the one planning to do that on the clones.
Dooku could have not beaten Yoda in Geonosis, meaning that the fight would have ended with Dooku either killed or captured had it continued. At that point, the only two Force-sensitive warriors who could beat Yoda in a fight were Mace Windu and Darth Sidious.

When Qui-Gon was killed by Darth Maul, Dooku was so saddened that Qui-Gon's death lead to Dooku's transformation into the Sith Lord Darth Tyranus.
After his reincarnation, Darth Sidious aka Palpatine used a blue-bladed lightsaber when he fought Luke onboard his Super Star Destroyer Eclipse. Ultimately, Sith who wielded colors other than red were usually looking to disguise their dark affiliations.
I suggest that when Ren's emotional outbursts, impulsivity, and unstable self-concept are looked at more closely, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that he suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder and that perhaps he is simply not just a cold-hearted villain after all.
While this theory concludes that Jar Jar Binks goes on to become Supreme Leader Snoke, a new revelation supports an even crazier hypothesis: that Jar Jar Binks is the Sith master who finds a young boy and molds him into the evil supervillain we meet in The Force Awakens.

Eventually, Jar Jar encountered a young boy named Mapo and took him on as an apprentice, teaching Mapo how to become a performer like Jar Jar himself was.
Although at first Dooku had been toying with Anakin, he now was concerned, and struggled to block Anakin's strikes. Anakin was able to completely overwhelm Dooku with his incredible speed and strength and eventually got through Dooku's defences and cut off both of his hands.
