At dusk, the leaders, called Keepers, bring Ben from prison and push him into the Maze for attempting to murder Thomas. Ben shrieks and howls in terror as the walls close on him. The next day, Minho and Alby go into the Maze to find the Griever, who, it turns out, was only pretending to be dead.
He saw that they'd been kidnapped by the Creators as orphans and raised in special schools to prepare them. The Creators named them after famous scientists. Then, the Creators put them in the Maze, a test without a solution, to see who would survive and continue trying to solve it against all odds.
In a state of psychological distress, Ben almost kills Thomas because he thinks Thomas does not belong in the Glade. As punishment for attempted murder, Alby banishes Ben to the Maze, effectively sentencing him to death, even though Ben deeply repents and apologizes for his actions.
Minho throws Ben's pack into the maze, before cutting the ropes that tied Ben together. Ben stands up, and Everyone points their poles at him. He looks at us while walking towards us. "Poles!" Alby says.
Newt reveals that the reason WCKD put him in the Maze was because they wanted to tell the difference between immunes like Thomas and people like himself. Thomas tells Newt that he can cure him.
Thomas' blood contains an enzyme that is capable of neutralizing the Flare virus [1]. In the series, it is revealed that WICKED, the organization behind the Maze Trials, was conducting experiments on the Gladers to find a cure for the Flare virus.

How long has Newt been in the glade? In the books he got sent to the Glade in the first group and spent two years there. In the movies he got sent to the Glade pretty early on (I think he was the second person there, after Alby), so he would have been there for three years.

Newt gets scratched by one of the Cranks on his right forearm, consequently infecting him with the virus. How does Newt get infected on Maze Runner? So of the guys who were originally in the Glade in the books, most of them were already immune to the Flare.
In short: Thomas's blood became the cure precisely because of all the Trials he faced. To understand this, pay attention to: The Death Cure movie. As it turns out the Trials did work and there was, in fact, a cure for the Flare (in movieverse, anyway), but it hadn't always been there, it had to be achieved.
They discovered that Gally was immune to the Flare virus and decided to bring him to the Last City to help nurse him back to full health from the Griever sting and being stabbed by Minho. The ultimate reveal that Gally did not die in The Maze Runner was briefly set up in the original movie.
However, none of the Maze Runner movies ever explain why WCKD sent Teresa into the Maze. It seems improbable that she betrayed WCKD since she defends them fervently. In Maze Runner 4, the story could provide clarity about whether Teresa went into the Maze voluntarily and the purpose of her presence.
Thomas agreed to the mission, but later became disillusioned with WCKD after witnessing the suffering of his friends in the glade. He resolved to rescue them from the maze, which led to his proposal of being sent into the glade as part of a plan to gather information and eventually rescue his friends [2].
Thomas calls for Newt's help, but realizes Newt won't be able to get to the Door in time to save them. Feeling he must help, Thomas slips into the Maze and the Door closes behind him. In an act of brave self-sacrifice, Thomas enters the Maze to save the others.
WICKED feels the only way to get the last information they need to create a cure is to dissect Thomas' brain while he's still alive. The procedure, of course, will kill him, but his sacrifice will save the human race. His agreement is no longer an option. They will do the operation whether he wants it or not.
This virus was created by the Post-Flares Coalition as a means of population control. With most human society bound to fall in a state of disarray after the apocalyptic 2136 Solar Flares, the Coalition took it upon themselves to create the Flare Virus to painlessly kill the survivors.
In the movies, besides fulgor not spreading through the air and they simply deciding to kill Newt according to the script, Thomas was the cure. This only makes the adaptation of the Maze Runner movies even worse for those who have read the books.
He first gets angry with Thomas and then finally tells him that he is infected. In the book, Newt gives Thomas a note and tells him to read it “when the time is right.” In the film, it isn't until Newt dies when he gives Thomas a pendant that he later realises has a note hidden inside of it.
Gally got through the same way the other Gladers got through. Gally used the small mechanical device that was found in the dead Griever body. We know this because when Gally appears at the end he is holding it.
