She's afraid that she's going to accidentally hurt someone else with her ice powers like she hurt Anna as a child. Her parents teaching her to hide her powers instead of trying to teach her how to control her powers was a terrible choice.
Their parents, the King and Queen of Arendelle, take Anna to the magical trolls who heal her but also alter her memories so that she has no knowledge of Elsa's powers. This fright led the King and Queen to isolate both Elsa and Anna from the kingdom.
Elsa constantly fears rejection from others and has always wanted to find the source of her powers. Maybe that's why it makes sense that she isn't destined to stay Arendelle's queen for long, despite all the good she did for the country.
It's a beautiful ability, but also extremely dangerous. Haunted by the moment her magic nearly killed her younger sister Anna, Elsa has isolated herself, spending every waking minute trying to suppress her growing powers.
However, after Elsa accidentally hurt Anna with her powers and Anna's memories had to be erased, she grew afraid of her powers and was unable to appropriately control them. She lived in fear of hurting anyone with her powers, and spent much of her formative years shut out from the world.
The ice from which the palace is constructed is capable of taking on different colors, such as purple, blue, red and yellow, based on Elsa's emotional state (blue when she is happy or neutral, yellow or amber when she is angry, and red when she is frightened).
People say Elsa was selfish for shutting Anna out and not talking to her, but she had no choice. Her dad even said they were going to “limit her contact with people… including Anna.” Her parents wanted her to hide away and Elsa was so scared of hurting people, she stayed in he room.
Kristoff may not have initially known that he had seen the royal family as a boy. But because he grew up with the trolls, he would have asked about what he saw and learned the truth. In that case, Kristoff had learned that Elsa had ice powers and Anna was healed by Pabbie before.
Spurred on by the awakening of magic, the pair are forced to uncover the truth behind their parent's disappearance and a surprising connection between Elsa and her mother. Frozen 2 revealed that Elsa and Anna's mother was also able to connect with the magical powers that help make Elsa the lost "fifth element".
On February 8, 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Frozen 3 is in the works, along with Toy Story 5 and Zootopia 2. While news of a third Frozen film was a welcome one, we have yet to hear more details about the movie or see a trailer.
Anna's parents rush her to the sacred realm, where discussions with the trolls reveal that Elsa was born with her powers/ depigmentation and deafness, rather than them being due to illness or accident. Grand Pabbie troll heals Anna but removes her memories of Elsa's magic.
These strong female characters certainly have their weaknesses; they wouldn't be very interesting characters if they didn't. Elsa can be distant to the people she loves, she has trouble accepting help, and she fails to recognize her own limitations.
Who is physically stronger, Anna or Elsa (without powers)? Without a shadow of a doubt I would say: Anna. Elsa might be older and taller than Anna but at the end of the day, when they were growing up, she didn't do a lot.
This reflects her fear of her own power and the way in which she closes herself off from everyone around her, including her sister. As she becomes more confident in her magic, she sheds these constricting garments and we see her in a dress made of ice that appears to be growing organically from her skin.
The fact that granting Anna powers would invalidate or at least muddle the spirit-human bridge concept is only part of the issue. Aside from the logistical problem it poses, a sudden manifestation of magic in Anna would also take away from the beauty of her character.
Because of the kingdom's negative feelings towards the Northuldra, Iduna kept her heritage a secret for many years, though she finally told him everything shortly before their deaths. Agnarr and Iduna's oldest daughter (Elsa) was born with the power to control ice and snow.
While Iduna's selfless actions were the reason Elsa was bestowed with ice powers to begin with, her daughter received powers instead of her because beings are born with elemental powers in the Frozen universe and don't acquire them later on in life.
Despite Frozen making his emotional connection to his adoptive family clear, Kristoff's biological parents remain a mystery. They received little acknowledgment in Frozen II or any of the franchise's spin-off books, leading fans to theorize he could possibly be related to the Northuldra people seen in the sequel.
Through Olaf, Kristoff's love for Anna was made apparent, and during the climax of the film, after originally leaving the kingdom after their adventures came to a close, Anna realized Kristoff willingly returned for her sake, proving Olaf's words to be true.
Elsa demonstrates powerful magical abilities from a young age. In Frozen, it's clear that Elsa's control over her power is directly related to the amount of control she has over her emotions. If Elsa is in a heightened emotional state, she can freeze entire landscapes without even being aware of what she's done.
There hasn't been any indication that Elsa will have a girlfriend in Frozen III. That said, some fans have theorized that Honeymaren, a member of the Northuldra tribe, will be Elsa's girlfriend in the next Frozen film. Honeymaren was introduced in Frozen II as a resident of the Enchanted Forest.
Lee: For this film, we spent a lot of time journaling and we said we took these pretty intense personality tests [for each character]. We found this is a woman who wasn't ready for a relationship at all.
Here are the reasons. Elsa is a strong independent woman who has something a whole lot better than romance, it's her family, friends and herself now, she can not be even happier than that.
