The year is 2029. Looking no older than 50, Logan has still aged to over 170 years and is no longer the same fighter he once was. His superhuman healing ability is failing and the adamantium in his body is slowly killing him. As a result, his body aches and he coughs up blood on occasion.
In Logan, scars and bullet holes that once would have vanished remain permanently visible on Wolverine, who is in constant physical agony in the movie, and it all comes down to a single fatal affliction: Adamantium poisoning.
There's been some rumbling about adamantium possibly being poisonous in a few of the comic books, but in Logan the poison in the metal is killing him. Wolverine's body basically heals itself like a regular human body—but much more quickly.
He has lived to that great age because his mutant healing power greatly slows down his aging processes and protects him from environmental abuses. But, the adamantium that the Weapon X project used to coat his skeleton is toxic. It has slowly poisoned him and weakened his healing powers.
Given his time period he was child any number of illness could be responsible. Generally mutant powers do not develop fully if at all untill puberty. But his healing factor may have been already working at low level preventing him from dying.
Like having a skeleton coated in lead, the metal leeches into Logan's body over time. It takes years to have a major effect, but by 2029, the year “Logan” is set, the adamantium has so weakened Logan that he's aging at a normal rate and struggling to heal himself after injuries.

He regularly endures massive explosions, hundreds of bullet wounds, and Hulk-level beatings knowing that he can fully regenerate any lost limbs or damaged organs.

After Logan loses some of his healing powers and his wounds do not heal as quickly as they should, he is shot several times, bleeds and is left with wounds that take time to heal.
Wolverine's healing factor is incredibly powerful and has helped him stay alive through otherwise fatal wounds. He's grown full limbs and his body back before, and his life in general is extended to the point of immortality.
Over the course of six years after the timeline was revised, Logan's healing factor began to suffer severe deterioration, causing him to finally begin showing his age. In addition, due to this decreased state of healing, he is slowly dying from adamantium poisoning.
Wolverine is him-self dying. During the beginning of the movie, we see Logan realizing that his body is giving up on him. And the reason why it is doing so is very simple – it is the adamantium in his bones, the very source of his abilities that is killing Logan.
As the viewer, we should presume that Logan is limping because of either of two things: The degenerative disease or sickness that ails him. A serious wound from a previous altercation which never fully healed, due to his decreasingly effective regenerative powers.
A lot of people are hating on adamantium, but it serves the most important purpose to Wolvie's longevity: it protects his brain stem. Logan can regenerate entirely as long as his brain stem is intact. Take away the adamantium and you are left with normal, would-be-obliterated-into-dust-by-a-nuclear-explosion bone.
Wolverine: Because of his healing factor, Wolverine is able to live longer than normal and show no signs of aging until a later period of time. X-23: Being Wolverine's clone, X-23 possesses the same healing factor and therefore has the same ability.
The wolverine is very quick and can run at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour when chasing its prey. The wolverine also pounces on its prey from trees. The wolverine stores its food in caches to eat later. It spray its caches of food with a stinky musk that keeps other animals away.
Wolverine's healing factor makes him capable of surviving without his legs or even his head attached to his body. Wolverine's healing factor was not strong enough in the end to defend Wolverine from having himself be obliterated by Magneto who tears the adamantium from his body.
However, Deadpool's healing factor goes a fair bit beyond Wolverine's, in that Deadpool's healing factor essentially prevents him from dying unless it is something catastrophic. Typically speaking, if Wolverine had an arm chopped off, he would not re-grow a new arm. Deadpool's powers do, in fact, do that.
In Wolverine #900, Logan revealed his healing factor processes alcohol nearly as quickly as he can drink it, with a bottle of whisky only getting him tipsy for seconds. It seems Wolverine is capable of getting drunk, but only for an extremely short amount of time (unless he has a constant supply of alcohol.)
He's also the illegitimate child of the Howlett family's groundskeeper, Thomas Logan, which is where the name Logan comes from. For the longest time, part of Wolverine's schtick was that he does not know who he really is, and he only knew his supposed real name to be "Logan".
Working as a limousine driver in El Paso, Texas, he and mutant tracker Caliban take care of 97-year-old Charles Xavier, founder of the X-Men, in an abandoned smelting plant in northern Mexico.
