The elders are appalled by Mumble's conduct, which they see as the reason for their lean fishing season. Memphis begs Mumble to stop dancing, for his own sake, but when Mumble refuses, he is exiled. Mumble and the Amigos return to Lovelace, only to find him being choked by the plastic rings.

According to Wikipedia, Mumble is stuck permanently in his baby feathers because of being dropped by Memphis as an egg. I'm not sure that's supported by the film, which makes a point of implying that baby feathers are shed once the penguin meets the requirements for sexual maturity, which was singing one's heartsong.
With Mumble 'singing' Gloria's heartsong with his feet, the rest of her heartsong came to her, and since Mumble was the only penguin who helped her finish her heartsong, she knew he was the only one for her, and she chose him as her mate.

During surviving the storm, Memphis drops the egg on accident which makes Mumble different to the others not able to sing like the other penguins to find true love but can dance which other penguins said was not a real penguin.
Mumble is a male emperor penguin, who develops ADHD due to being dropped in freezing temperatures at a young age. This weakness affected him throughout the whole movie, started at brith to adulthood. He is a very curious but slightly awkward character to the rest of the community.
Adding to the film's flaws, Mumble's parents (played by Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman) have completely disappeared. And the character of Gloria feels substantially different since Brittany Murphy, the original voice actress, died.
The film will appeal to all ages, but because of its content, is more suited to older children and adults. The main messages from this movie are to be true to yourself, tolerant of those who are different and accepting of the special gifts and talents of every individual.
The film was inspired in part by the BBC's 1993 nature series about Antarctica ( Life in the Freezer ) and it sticks close to biological reality about the life cycle of the Emperor penguin, the largest species of penguin and the only one that breeds in winter in Antarctica.

Happy Feet first appeared on Peka Peka beach in New Zealand in mid-June after presumably swimming more than 2,000 miles from his Antarctic home. The penguin quickly became sick and emaciated after eating sand and other debris found on the beach.

Before the first Happy Feet movie was released, Mumble was rumored to lose his juvenile feathers when he jumped off the ice cliff to stop the aliens from taking the fish. However, this got scrapped before the final cut of the film.
They reason that the outlandish tap dancer must have offended the great penguin spirit and they order him to desist or disappear. Mumble determines to stay true to who he is and sets off to find out what could be happening to all the fish.
