Marvel Studios, in a surprising revelation, has confirmed the return of the formidable Thanos in the upcoming Season 2 of the animated series What If...?, set to debut on Disney+ on December 22.
Thanos could be seen in future projects such as What If…? Season 2, Eternals 2, and one of the two Avengers movies, but almost certainly not as the main villain. Thanos' villainous arc is done, but he could return as a character that amplifies the hype for future projects.
