In the Marvel Universe, the Eternals are an offshoot of humanity known as Homo immortalis which were created one million years ago by the enigmatic alien Celestials to defend Earth with their superhuman powers and abilities.
The biggest example of this comes from the revelation that the Eternals are actually humanoid androids created by the Celestial Arishem in the World Forge. These beings can function for centuries without aging and are powered by cosmic energy.
The Eternals are essentially idealized, humanoid aliens from the planet Olympia, genetically engineered by the godlike Celestials. These particular Eternals were sent to Earth by the Celestials to fight against the evil Deviants and defend humanity, and they've been silently keeping watch for the last 7,000 years.
Before A'Lars and Sui-San, Eternals in the comics are an alien species that are unable to reproduce among themselves, though they can have children with other species. The MCU, however, changed the Eternals' origin to synthetic beings, with the implication that that's why they can't reproduce.

The Eternals are a race of god-like beings locked in a millennium-old conflict with the less evolved Deviants and their originators, the Celestials. The Eternals' Ajak Is Also Related to Quetzalcoatl from Mesoamerican Mythology. Ajak also assumes the identity of the chief Mesoamerican god Quetzalcoatl in Marvel's comics. Quetzalcoatl is often depicted as a mix of a bird and a rattlesnake.

Thanos was born an Eternal, but one with a deviant variant in his genes. He is essentially a super enhanced human who is also a mutant. His brother looks like a normal human because he is a normal Eternal and does not have a deviant gene.
ErosStarfox. Eros grew up on Titan alongside his brother Thanos, embracing all the pleasures that life has to offer. He laters becomes Starfox and an official member of the Avengers.
Hercules is considered the physically strongest character in the whole marvel universe. Literally the strongest, even over characters such as Thor, Hulk, and the Destroyer.
While audiences never got to see Quicksilver at full power, super-speed is one of the best abilities a hero can have when facing an enemy like Thanos. With enough training, Quicksilver would have been more than capable of defeating Thanos when he finally arrived in Infinity War.
With the exception of the Hulk, Thor is often thought of as a uniquely powerful hero, but A.X.E. Judgment Day #4 confirms that the Eternals have always secretly been able to match his power with a single member, showing that being a god isn't an automatic win.
