Elrond Didn't Have the Strength to Stop Isildur The main reason that Elrond wouldn't have pushed Isildur was that he simply couldn't have brought himself to destroy the Ring. He knew that the Ring needed to be destroyed, but actually doing it would have been different.
Elrond, however, was only the herald of King Gil-Galad (and Círdan only a lieutenant), and did not have the political power to be considered equal to the king, and therefore did not have any real influence on Isildur's decision.
Though neither is someone you'd wish to annoy, Galadriel is generally considered more powerful than Elrond in Lord of the Rings. Not only is she older than her Rivendell counterpart, but Galadriel witnessed the light from Valinor's Two Trees, giving her a mystic quality.
High King Turgon was Elrond's great-grandfather, but that was through Turgon's daughter Idril. That meant that Elrond could have been King of Gondolin if it still existed, but he couldn't be High King of the Noldor.
The Elven King named Gil-galad fought side-by-side with Elendil, the King of Men. Together they managed to mortally wound Sauron, but the fight cost them their lives. This is when Isildur, son of Elendil, took his father's sword and cut the Ring from Sauron's hand, dealing the final blow.
Why Aragorn (and His Ancestors) Waited To Claim Gondor's Throne. The first reason that Aragorn hadn't claimed the throne was a matter of semantics. Isildur ruled Arnor, while his brother, Anárion, ruled Gondor. So, technically, Gondor's line of kings didn't run through Isildur.
He did not want to see his daughter Arwen married to Aragorn, a mortal, and did his best to stop her from following her heart. Not only did he treat Aragorn– and the race of men in general– with contempt, but he went as far as lying to Arwen about what he saw of her future.
Elrond is also well-known for his great wisdom and foresight. Additionally, he has many powers that stem from Vilya, the Ring of Air, which Gil-galad gifted to him. Elrond's Ring gives him the ability to enchant rivers, which helps him save Frodo during his journey with the One Ring.
Unfortunately, Elrond's host arrived too late and was not large enough on its own to defeat Sauron's army. He retreated north with the refugees of Eregion, including Celeborn, only escaping because the forces of Durin III assailed Sauron's army in the rear.
As previously stated, Gandalf is a Maia and is therefore superior to Elves regarding power. Still, this isn't to say that an elf couldn't develop enough skill and power to defeat a Maia. As a bearer of one of the Three Elven Rings (Nenya), Galadriel would have an edge against Maiar like Saruman and Radagast.
While Glorfindel already one of the greatest of all elves as Ecthelion and Glorfindel are Gondolins greatest captains. So in the first age Feanor is the most powerful elf. In the second age it's Galadriel. In the Third age it's reincarnated Glorfindel.
The story was abandoned, but Tolkien reused the characters and events. Isildur features briefly in voiced-over flashback sequences of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The video game Middle-earth: Shadow of War departs from Tolkien's narrative by having Sauron make Isildur into a Nazgûl or ringwraith.
In the spiritual world, beings are invisible to those in the physical world. This is why Isildur, Bilbo, and Frodo become invisible when they wear the Ring—because they are no longer in the physical world. As Olsen said, Sauron does not have a real body, so he is not affected in the same way.
The reason for this is that the ring bearers aren't becoming invisible in the traditional sense. Rather than simply disappearing from sight, they actually get transported into the Wraith-world, a world layered on top of the physical world and usually only accessible by wraiths themselves.
Aragorn and Legolas are long-time companions and best friends since Legolas' father Thranduil sent him to live among the Rangers of the North. Aragorn and Legolas grew close, up to the point where Aragorn revealed his true identity to Legolas. Throughout his journeys, Aragorn and Legolas are as close as brothers.
Lying to the high king should be a bad idea, but Galadriel sought vengeance. With that in mind, withholding the truth worked to her advantage. If she had outed Sauron, the Elves would have needed to leave Middle-earth, and Sauron would have won. So, in this case, lying was her best option.
Bloodlines are very important in Tolkien's stories, and it makes a lot of sense that Sauron would fear the great-grandson of the man who cut off his hand. Aragorn carried the blood of Numenor with him. His genetic connection to the heroes of the Second Age established him as a dangerous opponent of Sauron.
Éowyn falls in love with Aragorn, but though he respects her, he does not return her feelings, as he is betrothed to the elf Arwen. As Aragorn points out, her duty is with her people; she has to shoulder the responsibility of ruling Rohan in Théoden's stead when the war-host of Rohan go to war.
However, he does not possess the ability to live forever, and he cannot choose to be mortal or immortal like Arwen, the half-Elf he loves and eventually claims as his wife. Because Aragorn is mortal and Arwen chose to remain in Gondor and become mortal, their son, Eldarion, is mortal as well, despite his Elven lineage.
After the war ended Elendil was dead. Therefore Isildur, his eldest son, was then the (last) rightful king of both Gondor and Arnor, and therefore his descendant Aragorn was also the rightful king of both kingdoms.
How Can Isildur Live For So Long? After the War of Wrath against Morgoth, the great Men who had fought alongside the Valar were gifted with longevity and an island continent far to the west of Middle-earth. Elros, Elrond's brother, chose to live as a Man, and he became the first king Númenor, reigning for 410 years.
The Ring cannot effect Tom Bombadil because he is outside the whole issue of Power and Domination; Tolkien uses Tom as an allegory that even this intense struggle between "good and evil" is only part of the whole picture of existence.
How much time is there between Isildur and Aragorn?
Not long after, Isildur and his brothers were ambushed by Orcs on the road, and during a desperate attempt to secure the One Ring he was shot with an arrow and left for dead. This was only two years into the third age of Middle-earth, and around 2,929 years before the birth of Aragorn in 2931.
