While searching for a criminal mastermind in an abandoned Mexican prison, Red Hood found a stray dog which he promptly befriended. He named her “Dog,” because apparently Damian got all the good pet-naming genes. (Yes, I know they're not biologically related.)

In the movie, much like in the comic that inspired it, we learn that Bruce has taken in three very different orphan children, who assist him on his travels and with his studies. They're not Robins, and that's not exactly unusual—Bruce's children aren't always Robins.
Bud and Lou are spotted hyenas who are the pets of Harley Quinn. Initially owned by The Joker, they bonded to Harley because she was usually the one who fed them.

It is suggested that Ace might be named after the Ace from an incarnation of the Royal Flush Gang. In the episode "Epilogue" of Justice League Unlimited (TV Series), Batman learns that Ace's powers have spun out of control and will eventually kill her.
