Not only did that shooting serve as Batman's origin, it was the foundation for his infamous 'no guns' rule. While Bruce and his Bat-Family use a number of tools in their mission to protect Gotham from crime, the use of guns is generally forbidden.

That fact has been one of the core principles of his character almost since the moment he debuted. The reason is obvious: his parents were killed with a gun, ergo he despises them and anyone who uses them.
The biggest one is that Batman doesn't kill. Now, this rule is mostly just in the comics, and even then it depends on the universe or the time in the Caped Crusader's life. However, the mainline Batman does everything he can to avoid killing and has been known to go after heroes who violate his rules.
Batman was inspired by pulp fiction heroes, specifically The Shadow, who used guns all the time. Batman rarely used a gun on people, but originally didn't have a rule against doing so. The character's shift to an anti-gun status is often said to be have been an editorial decision.
When did Batman become anti gun? Less than a year after his debut, and only five months after he first started using a gun at all, Batman now had a rule against lethal force. The proto-Batman was fully crystalizing into the kind of character Finger felt Bruce Wayne was meant to be.

Why is Batman no guns?
As writer and editor Denny O'Neil explained, "Our rationale was that Batman's parents were killed by gun violence and that that gave him a kind of phobia about guns, but more than that, it gave him the realization that killing is something that can't be undone, and he might make mistakes, which is one of the compelling ...
The modern rationale for Batman not carrying a gun — and even hating guns — is that he witnessed his parents' murder by one. Paul Levitz, long-time DC writer, editor, and former president and publisher, said it just made sense for the character.
But despite what DC Comics would have a current-day reader believe, Batman has killed multiple people - and he even saw some of his murders as completely necessary. Batman was partially inspired by dashing heroes who fought against the corrupt elite, such as the Scarlet Pimpernel, Zorro, and The Shadow.
When it finally lands on Bad-Heads, he shoots Bruce. The bullet hits the wall only cutting his forehead, but the force was enough to knock him down he stairs. Since Batman is a fictional character, he can survive whatever the writers want him to.
Arguably the most iconic weapon in the super-hero's possession, the batarang is Batman's go-to weapon when it comes to subduing and apprehending clown henchmen or mafia thugs. Starting out as just an original take on the classic boomerang, the batarang has evolved over the years to become a multipurpose weapon.
Batman's lack of superhuman abilities makes him especially vulnerable to physical trauma, as his body cannot withstand continuous beatings without severe consequences. Batman's past trauma and lack of emotional healing make him easily manipulated by his enemies, who use his fears and personal losses against him.
In the comics, it has been suggested that Batman also uses “microsleeps” throughout the day. This is akin to the real-world “Uberman sleep schedule,” which divides sleep into 20 minute naps, taken every four hours. Others include the Dymaxion cycle, consisting of 30 minute naps, every six hours.
Numerous examples exist in Golden Age Batman comics where the Dark Knight dishes out overwhelming (and often lethal) force to the criminals of Gotham. Some of his early offenses include purposely throwing a man into a vat of acid, impaling another man on a sword, and even snapping another guy's neck!
Usual methods include having a Kevlar vest infused into the suit itself, as well as Kevlar reinforcements in his mask, at least when he is shown in media with a hard shell mask. Such materials allow Batman to be resistant to pistol-caliber firearms and shotgun shells to a lesser degree.
Red Hood uses guns not to rebel against Batman, but because Batman trained him to use them. All members of the Bat-Family must follow Batman's rules, including no killing and no guns. Jason Todd's education in guns started with Batman, who taught him how to use firearms alongside other skills.

This implies that when he launches himself into a fight, Batman's detective skills allow him to determine whether his enemies are willing to shoot or not; by doing his research and playing up intimidation tactics he can make sure that the majority of combatants are unwilling to target him at all.
On the occasions Batman does lose a fight, it's by such an order of magnitude that any reasonable person would collapse under the weight of the loss. But Batman wears each defeat he suffers like a badge, emerging stronger and more determined each time, and becoming a greater hero from that tragedy.
The Joker is explicitly shown killing 23 people in The Dark Knight, but the number exceeds 30 if the kills made on his orders or due to his manipulations are also counted.
The true reason why Batman doesn't kill the Joker has been revealed. The Dark Knight believes that there is still some part of the Joker that is worth saving. This belief in humanity and finding it even within Gotham's most depraved criminal proves that Batman is and always will be one of DC's most caring heroes.
From May 1939 to May 1940, the Dark Knight was depicted with a gun in only five of his sixteen stories, and only one of those stories featured him shooting people. The first time Batman used a gun, it was to destroy a pair of vampires with silver bullets in Detective Comics #32.

Can Batman bend a gun? Batman first used it when confronting Scarecrow in a parking garage, as he was making a trade with the Chechen and his men. Using the Mangler, Batman was able to effortlessly bend the barrel of a long gun.
