Kronos is resurrected, and "rewards" Luke by eating him. He begins a rampage in Polyphemus's lair but is stopped and defeated by Percy, whose sword, Riptide, disintegrates him and once again imprisons him in his sarcophagus.
Percy has another brief fight with Kronos and, since he now also bears the Curse of Achilles, is able to fight him on a nearly equal footing, though Kronos (as a Titan) is still stronger.
