Milah is introduced as the wife of Rumplestiltskin. Before Rumplestiltskin went to the ogre war, Milah is shown to be a devoted and loving wife to her husband.
Rumple and Belle get married, but Rumple's dark side keeps getting the better of him and Belle banishes him from Storybrooke. Despite this, after Rumple gets back into Storybrooke and has the Darkness removed from him, they eventually reconcile and conceive their son.

She is freed shortly before the curse is broken, however, and she goes on to live as Belle Gold (née French), quickly reuniting with her beloved Rumple.
Regina obtains the dagger and gives it to Belle, who gives it to Rumplestiltskin. However, Rumplestiltskin gives it back to Belle, and asks her to marry him. Belle says yes, and they embrace.

Do Rumple and Belle get a happy ending?
Unfortunately, Belle continued to age in a heartbreaking Up-esque montage that showed their beautiful life together. On her deathbed, Belle reveals to Rumple that she purposefully misinterpreted the prophecy — it's actually her death that will show Rumple the path that will eventually free him from being the Dark One.
But than season 2 introduces us to Cora's backstory which includes her being in love with Rumple. But it's also implied that Rumple ALSO was in love with Cora: Wanting a child from her, the heartbroken look when Cora tells him she leaves him and him wanting desperatly to know if she really loves him before her death.

Rumplestiltskin's son Baelfire aka Neal Cassidy has always been a fan-favorite character in the ABC fantasy series Once Upon a Time. Unlike his cowardly father, Baelfire is brave and ambitious. His nickname also happens to be Bae, which makes him even more likable.
It is likely that his desire for a human child is meant to demonstrate the significant increase of his greed in the tale. Some theories are founded in the belief that Rumpelstiltskin is a demonic creature, making pacts with mortals to obtain living creatures, but the Grimm's version gives no mention of that.

The miller's dishonesty nearly gets his daughter killed, the king's greed nearly loses him his child, and Rumplestiltskin's greed and anger ends with him ripping himself in half.
Rumpelstiltskin and the miller's daughter have a child of their own. When the King discovers that this child could possibly spin gold like her father, he kidnaps her and demands that she spin hay into gold for him. Rumpelstiltskin's daughter was as clever as her father, and used the King's greed to trick him.
Flashbacks revealed that Peter Pan is actually Rumplestiltskin's father. He traded his son for what he thought was eternal youth, taking the name of Rumple's childhood doll as his own. So basically, he just stole his great grandson's heart.
Rumple does have children in Once Upon a Time. Baelfire, aka Neal Cassidy, is his son from his first marriage with Milah. Gideon, aka "Morpheus" in the Dream World , is his son with his second wife, Belle.
Baelfire insists that Emma uses her magical abilities to seperate Rumplestiltskin and him so that Rumplestiltskin can tell them who the Wicked Witch is. Emma does this, and Baelfire eventually dies in Emma's arms, with a sad Rumplestiltskin watching over him. A funeral is eventually held for Bae where he is buried.
Furthermore, the revelation that Peter Pan is actually Rumple's father is similar to another scene in The Empire Strikes Back where Vader reveals that he is Luke's father.
Emma, freaking out, calls to tell Snow White of her dilemma. She was trying to protect Henry and never thought she'd see Baelfire again, so she told him that his dad was a firefighter and was killed. Snow tells Emma that she'll have to tell Henry that his father is alive.
Rumplestiltskin later planned on using aging dust on Belle. As Morpheus again, Belle, after falling asleep reading, where she is lead to the shears and her son's fate strings, leading her to believe her being awake. Belle manages to find her son and happily embraces him.
Without Cora, Rumplestiltskin would never have a child with Cora, would never have her first-born. Rumplestiltskin has no choice but to leave. Cora has her child, Regina, but she does not love. Because love is only weakness.
Next, Cora tried to get with Leopold (Snow's father), but Eva got in the way and ended up marrying Leopold and giving birth to Snow. Then, Cora goes to the ball and has the whole spinning straw into gold ordeal and meets Rumple (who teaches her magic), then ends up marrying Prince Henry, and has Regina with him.
Rumplestiltskin was once mentor and lover to Regina's mother Cora. He later became mentor to Regina, and set her on her path to evil. It was seen, and even noted by Regina, that she and Rumplestiltskin had a substantial amount of "chemistry" during their time as teacher and student.
