Tony quit psychotherapy by his own will two times before: In "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano," he did so after he told Melfi to go into hiding as he was at war with Junior and, in "Calling All Cars," he quit it after citing a lack of progress in curbing his impulses.
He forcibly kisses her; she tactfully makes him desist. In a therapy session with her own psychiatrist, Melfi admits her initial attraction to Tony. Tony makes a third attempt to court her by offering cruise tickets, but she declines again.

Carmela begins dating A.J.'s guidance counselor, Robert Wegler. She pursues divorce proceedings against Tony, but is drawn back to her husband by financial concerns and difficulties in rearing A.J., as well as a difficult breakup with Wegler, who accuses Carmela of using sex to manipulate him into giving A.J.

While Father Phil does not condone Tony's past affairs, he makes it clear that two wrongs do not make a right. He asks that Carmela do penance by doing something nice for Tony.
Carmela attends a session alone with Dr. Melfi on a day when Tony does not want to go. She stresses that she does not need therapy herself, but she makes an appointment with the therapist Melfi recommends.
As viewers remember in the beginning of season 5 part 1, Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) learns that he is not the biological father to Charmaine Roberts' (Lauren Hammersley) twin sons (as a reminder, at the end of season 5 part 1, fans learn that the real father of the twins is local gang leader Calvin).
But in season 4, after a major health scare, the hair stylist confessed that she'd been lying and the twins are not actually Jack's babies. The mystery of the father's identity looms large over season 5 with Charmaine refusing to name him, insisting the man in question isn't cut out to be a father.
