Laila Morse was born Maureen L Oldman on 1 August 1945, to Leonard Bertram Oldman (1921–1985), a former sailor who also worked as a welder, and Kathleen (née Cheriton; 1919–2018). Her younger brother is actor and filmmaker Gary Oldman.
