Jafar's Lamp was the dark lamp that served as the prison of Jafar after his transformation into a genie. The lamp was created following Jafar's wish to become an all-powerful genie, not realizing such a wish would result in eternal imprisonment.
How did Jafar trick Aladdin into getting the lamp?
First Plot Point: Jafar uses his magic to locate Aladdin and orders the palace guard to arrest him and throw him in the dungeon. He tells the princess Aladdin was executed, then disguises himself and leads Aladdin out of the dungeon to the Cave of Wonders to have him fetch the magical lamp for him.
After a second attempt by Jafar on his life, Aladdin (with the help of the Genie and his second wish) survives and then exposes Jafar's plot against the Sultan; however, Jafar learns that Aladdin possesses the lamp before making his escape. Iago steals the lamp from Aladdin and Jafar becomes the Genie's new master.
As one of the most powerful objects in the universe, the lamp was hidden deep within the Cave of Wonders, a cavern that can only be summoned by a golden scarab and entered by an individual known as the Diamond in the Rough.
Later, Abis Mal finds the lamp at the well and rubs it, releasing Jafar. At the end of the film, whilst Jafar is trying to persuade Abis Mal to wish him free, Aladdin and his friends tried to capture Jafar's lamp so they could destroy it, which would thus destroy Jafar.
Storyline wise it's just a short reprise of the main film really, and it truly is short, even for an animated move. The worst aspect is, of course, the lack of Robin Williams portraying the Genie, Dan Castellaneta does his best, but he's only ever a poor imitation of the original performance.

However, Jafar and Iago deviously steal the magic lamp and Jafar becomes Genie's new boss. With his first two wishes, he becomes Sultan of Agrabah and a powerful sorcerer.
Jaffar wanted access to the Genie from the lamp.. More specifically he wanted the 3 wishes the Genie would grant him. And once he got the lamp he did make his wishes and all three were granted.. His second wish to become most powerful sorcerer in the world..
Realizing what Aladdin says is true, Jafar uses his final wish to become an all-powerful genie, himself. With phenomenal, cosmic power at his command, Jafar seizes control of the cosmos and declares himself ruler of the universe.
4. When Jafar tries to manipulate the Sultan into letting him marry Jasmine, the Sultan makes a remark that Jafar is "so old". Granted, he is most likely younger than the Sultan, but old enough for it to be considered wrong for him to marry a fifteen-year-old girl. Again, no actual age is ever given.
Due to his weakened state as opposed to Jafar's full power, the now-genie Jafar defeated him during "You're Only Second Rate", as well as deflecting all of his magical attacks. However, he still has a nearly unlimited amount of magical knowledge and all his shapeshifting abilities.
Not sure if you noticed but the Cave of Wonders swallowed up anyone who wasn't worthy. Jafar KNEW he wouldn't pass the sniff test himself and needed some hapless souls to test run the process until he found someone worthy... the "diamond in the rough" who would be capable of retrieving the lamp and get back out.
The original Aladdin story was actually set in China. Aladdin is one of the stories compiled in The Thousand and One Nights — a collection of Middle Eastern and Indian folk tales, however, it did not appear in the original Arabic text.

While the Genie is willing to sacrifice his freedom in order to allow Aladdin to be with Princess Jasmine, Aladdin decides to live up to his original promise and uses his final wish to free the Genie from his lamp's power, much to the latter's surprise and happiness.
