Dumbo is awarded the proper ending he deserves, though, as the other circus performers help him and his mother escape the circus completely. The dark story and somber appearance may not have broad appeal. Burton's films have a dark aesthetic and Dumbo is no different. Certain scenes may be spooky for young children so parents may not want to take their kids to see it. The story is also not a joyful one.
DUMBO has a strong moral worldview about the importance of family. The entire premise of the movie is based on the idea that families should be together and children need their mother and their father.
The themes in Dumbo include friendship, tolerance of differences, and the importance of believing in yourself. Some of the characters (particularly the crows) are quite dated by today's standards, but kids will sill appreciate the story of the little elephant who learns to believe in himself.
