Blomkamp's Alien 5 Is Totally Dead, District 9 Sequel May Happen Instead. Alien: Covenant sank any chances of Alien 5 ever happening, but director Neill Blomkamp may move forward on District 10.
However, in a disappointing turn of events, Blomkamp announced via Twitter in October 2015 that the project was put on hold due to "Prometheus 2." Subsequently, it became increasingly evident that "Alien 5" was unlikely to become a reality, with Ridley Scott confirming its cancellation.

Alien is set in the year 2122, which means this Alien prequel series is set in the early 2090s, much closer to Prometheus and Alien: Covenant in the franchise timeline. FX's show is the first project in the Alien franchise to take place on Earth.
The alien manages to hang on, but Ripley fires a grappling hook gun to push it out and then fires the engines, blasting it away into deep space. After recording her final log entry, she places Jones and herself into stasis for the trip back to Earth.
