Billions of years at least. It claims to have existed before the universe, and essentially has no beginning. This lack of specificity had It convinced it was infinite until the end of the book, when it realized it was actually dying and thought to itself “perhaps It wasn't as eternal as It thought".
The novel explains that IT landed on Earth during an asteroid impact and established itself under the land Derry would be later built on, and initially preyed on indigenous tribes. From that point of view, IT/Pennywise would be billions of years old, but his clown shape wouldn't be that old.
It originated in a vast cosmic void between worlds that has been called, at times, the Macroverse, and in King's Dark Tower series, the Todash Darkness, in a space It refers to only as the Deadlights. It and the Deadlights are one and the same, with It's natural, metaphysical form existing only in the Deadlights.

Nevertheless, it's clear that Stephen King was inspired by Lovecraft's ideas of "Outer Gods" and evil beings that exist in dimensions outside of normal human experience when he created Pennywise. It remains one of King's greatest novels, with Pennywise one of his most interesting and lasting creations.
Kersh tells Beverly she's the daughter of a carnival worker who happens to look just like Pennywise. As explained in Stephen King's IT, this man is Bob Gray — and IT, that pesky inter-dimensional force of evil, stole his likeness. For 85-year-old Gregson, the character of Mrs. Kersh was initially even more mystifying.
I recommend this film to everyone who loves slightly disturbing films and TV shows like me but for anyone under the age of 13 you really should not watch it. It's very gory and contains adult language.

Why Art The Clown Is The Scarier Than Pennywise. First and foremost, Art the Clown is a human serial killer, unlike Pennywise. Though he does possess supernatural abilities, his kills are marked through very brutal — and very human — means.
A common interpretation of this phrase is that it refers to where the souls of IT's victims go after they die, as they wouldn't go to heaven nor hell, staying instead in the “deadlights”, which would be a sort of limbo, thus “floating” in that middle point for eternity.
It describes that it prefers to kill and devour children, not by nature, rather because children's fears are easier to interpret in a physical form and thus children are easier to fill with terror, which It says is akin to marinating the meat.
Georgie Elmer Denbrough is a fictional character created by Stephen King from his 1986 epic horror novel It. Georgie is the younger brother of Bill Denbrough, and falls prey to Pennywise the Clown. He is used by Pennywise to taunt Bill throughout the novel.
Martin Morgan Pennwise is (biologically) asexual and has the ability to reproduce. Therefore even though King describes pennywise as a female further into the book, 'IT' is (technically) neither male nor female.
