The humor and plotting are aimed at children, but very young kids may not be ready for the movie's darker moments, and it may confuse those who've already seen the original films but aren't yet old enough to understand the concept of a prequel.

Now rereleased in 3D, The Phantom Menace is the first in the well-known Star Wars science fiction fantasy adventure series. It's likely to be too scary for most children under 10 years and also for some slightly older children, particularly in the more intense 3D format.
The movie isn't recommended for children under 13 years, and we recommend parental guidance for young teenagers. The main message from The Last Jedi is that participating in war isn't about fighting what we hate, but about defending and saving what we love.
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope is a classic science fiction movie. Although the visual quality is not as good as in movies produced today, this movie is still an exciting adventure story that older children will thoroughly enjoy.
Multiple people are stabbed and slashed with lightsabers and someone is decapitated (in a non-gory way). Many people are also shot with blasters, there are more battles then other films in the saga. There are five lightsaber duels in this movie, two of which have fatalities. A few war zone situations are depicted.
I understand there may be lots of parent Star Wars fans who can overlook the violence, but for most kids under 11, this is too much. There is a severed arm, burned bodies, a death by strangulation, and lots of warfare.
If you're looking for just the right Star Wars film for your youngling once you've decided they're ready, we suggest Star Wars: The Phantom Menace -- which was released 20 years ago this month -- for a movie night that's fun for the entire family.
A New Hope: The original is still the best introduction to the Star Wars universe. There's a lot of death, but much of it happens off-screen or to faceless Storm Troopers. The Phantom Menace: The only film starring an actual child, Episode I kicks off the Lucas-era prequels with a load of slapstick and bathroom humor.
In Episode III the rating was given because of the overall violence. Clones being exposed to space during a battle, Dooku having his hands sliced off and then his head, Anakin killing Younglings, choking his wife, then being burned alive in the Mustafar battle.
I would recommend this for older kids who want to enjoy a good story about an underdog going the distance and proving his worth, but parents be advised there are several uses of GD, one f word and other profanities, inappropriate jokes about penis size, older jock teenagers threatening the main character and the theme ...
Otherwise it was awesome. But this PG-13 movie you should be 15+ it does use profanity like a** and hell and “that's for damn sure” . ): So its not my fault that you should be fifteen plus for this PG-13 movie.
In addition to the violent scenes and scary visual images mentioned above, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has some scenes that could scare or disturb children aged 8-13 years. For example: Rey walks on a deserted, grey planet with lightning flashes around.
Anyway, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is rated PG-13 for “sci-fi action violence,” which is about as generic a classification as you can get these days. But at least it doesn't have any rude humor.
“The Mandalorian” is rated TV-14, and here's why. There's some violence throughout the show. While the show doesn't get graphic, there's certainly fighting scenes throughout the show and discussion of violence.
