The film takes place over the course of 20 years, from when Tarzan is a baby to when Tarzan is, well, a 20 year old man. Sabor is around at the beginning, and still around (and dangerous) by the time Tarzan is fully grown.
Throughout the entirety of the movie, Tarzan's exact age is never revealed. However, in the original novel Tarzan of the Apes, he was said to be one years old when his parents died and 21 years of age when he met a 19-year-old Jane Porter.
Entertaining and some good role models but scary for younger kids. Since this movie is rated G, I thought it would be fine for my nearly 6 year old and it was certainly a fun movie to watch but had some scary elements that would give me pause to recommend for his age group.
Plot. As an human orphan being raised by a family of gorillas after his biological parents were killed in an African jungle from the original animated film, Tarzan is worried that a fabled monster, the Zugor, will someday try to capture him.
Tarzan is really John Clayton II, heir to the title of the Earl of Greystoke. Shipwrecked in Africa with his parents, who soon die, the orphaned boy is raised by apes. Years later, he begins the journey of discovery about his own origins and eventually meets the love of his life, Jane Porter.
The character's background included his birth in Africa, becoming an orphan, and then raised by apes. His real name was given to him as John Clayton, but since he was brought up by an ape family, they named him Tarzan, which meant “white skin.”
A plane flying to Cape Town, carrying a young couple and their baby, crashes in the jungle. Everyone on the plane dies, except for the baby who is rescued by Cheeta, Tarzan's chimpanzee. Tarzan and Jane adopt the child and name him "Boy".
Voice cast. Tony Goldwyn as Tarzan, a 20-year-old man raised by gorillas who finds his human roots. Glen Keane served as the supervising animator for Tarzan as an adult, while John Ripa animated Tarzan as an infant and 6-year-old child.
During the events of the movie and the sequel TV series, Tarzan is 18 years old. Also in the book, Tarzan and Jane have a son named Korak, also known as Jack Clayton or John 'Jack' Paul Clayton IV. In Disney's version of Tarzan, Korak doesn't appear, and Tarzan and Jane have no children.
According to a Cast Member who played the iconic Jack Sparrow in Disneyland Park, one character was cut from the lineup of walk-around characters due to multiple accounts of sexual harassment. The male character they had pulled was Tarzan. He moved around the tree house dressed in just a butt flap.
Tarzan (John Clayton II, Viscount Greystoke) is a fictional character, a feral child raised in the African jungle by the Mangani great apes; he later experiences civilization, only to reject it and return to the wild as a heroic adventurer.
"William Mildin, 14th Earl of Streatham, was the real-life inspiration for Tarzan of the Apes. In 1868 he was shipwrecked off West Africa at the age of 11, and spent 15 years living in the jungle, after which he lived in Thrale Road (not much difference there, then)."
Quite possibly the most famous adoptee in literature, Tarzan is adopted and raised by apes – but eventually questions his origins. The movie even includes song lyrics that celebrate “two worlds, one family.” Kids from 5 to 10 will absolutely love this movie.
Tarzan (White-skin) is his ape name; his English name is John Clayton, Lord Greystoke (the formal title is Viscount Greystoke according to Burroughs in Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle; Earl of Greystoke in later, non-canonical sources, notably the 1984 movie Greystoke).
Jane Porter from Disney's Tarzan is called Jane because she is named after Jane Goodall. You may ask "Why would Professor Porter name his daughter after Jane Goodall?"
Director Chris Buck confirms that, in his mind, the sisters in ''Frozen'' (left) are the older sisters of Tarzan (right). The theory first got attention when the directors dropped a major hint during a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session last year.
5) In the film's novelization, Moana's age is given as 16. This makes her the only Disney princess to be voiced by an actress younger than herself. Moana was released on Cravalho's 16th birthday.
VIOLENCE/GORE 4 - A leopard chases a baby gorilla and then -- it is implied but not seen -- she eats it. The same leopard chases a human baby (with a similar nutritional intent in mind) during an extended scene, wounds a large gorilla, and eventually fights Tarzan who's armed with a spear.
Sabor is finally killed as she is impaled on the head of Tarzan's spear tip when the ape man raises it against the ferocious leopard, thus killing the animal.
Originally, Terk was going to be a male like in the books but was changed to a female after Rosie O'Donnell's audition. Coincidentally, Chris Rock was offered the role of Terk, but turned it down. In the musical, like in the books, Terk is portrayed as a male (originally portrayed by Chester Gregory) and he is a tenor.
Terk, referring to herself Terk is a major character in Disney's 1999 animated feature film, Tarzan. She is a rowdy, tomboyish, and fun-loving gorilla and the best friend of Tarzan. She is also Kerchak and Kala's niece, making Tarzan her human adoptive cousin.
The Snake (Passe-Partout): The traitor who accidentally leads the authorities to the abandoned warehouse where their stash of cigarettes is hidden, and who betrays Tarzan by telling the police that Tarzan crossed the US-Canada border the day a border-control officer was killed.
It comes from the mind of turn-of-the-20th-century, American novelist Edgar Rice Burroughs in his work of the same name. Tarzan is a name given to the shipwrecked baby by the apes and is meant to be a word from their language that means “white skin.” However, this name could really mean anything you want it to!
