While Pennywise the Dancing Clown developed audiences' fear of clowns in It, the emergence of Art the Clown in Terrifier brought this to a whole new, scarier level.
Terrifier is a modern day film that clearly takes influence from some Horror films of the 1970's and 1980's slasher genre but it takes the blood, gore, and graphicness to an unnecessary level. There are a few reasons why the Terrifier film franchise is so scary and psychologically disturbing to many people.
Is Terrifier 2 or 1 scarier? The Horror: As this flick is more of a cross-genre affair, it doesn't have the scares of the first film – unless you are frightened simply by gore, in which case, this movie will, ahem, terrify you.
While the original 2016 film was plenty violent, it was nothing compared to 2022's Terrifier 2 which upped the ante in terms of graphic gore as it followed Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) as he is resurrected by an evil entity and sets to terrorizing a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween.
While Terrifier 2 is living up to its title by disturbing multiplex audiences the slasher sequel's killer villain, Art the Clown, is not necessarily as lethal as Pennywise, the legendary antagonist of Stephen King's It.

Who is scarier Art or Pennywise?
Even Mike Giannelli's All Hallow's Eve version of the character is arguably more chilling than Pennywise. The main reason that Art the Clown beats Pennywise when it comes to scare factor is the simplicity of his modus operandi.

However, it seems the creepily silent Art the Clown has an ability similar to The Umbrella Academy's Klaus, where he is able to resurrect himself by unknown means.
This movie is nowhere close to being as good as the first Terrifier. At least the first one had somewhat of a story line the viewer could follow whereas the 2nd was just a movie with unbelievable stupid scenes due to the fact there wasn't anything to allow the script to be understandable.

While there are theories that Art is Sienna's dad, there is also evidence that suggests they are not the same person and that Art has connections and backstory separate from the Shaw family. Terrifier 3 may provide more answers regarding Sienna's dad's role in the franchise.

As Terrifier 2's unbelievable runtime finally comes to an end, Sienna and Jonathan have survived their ordeal, and Art remains alive. Like most slasher film villains, Art is immortal until proven otherwise. In Sienna, Terrifier finds its protagonist.
This film really needed a PLOT. And characters, some people to root for. Instead, the poor pacing, lack of tension and suspense made for a kind of dull film experience. Yes, Art is a crazy, vicious clown killer.
Trivia. Victoria was the only character to survive Art's rampage from the first film. It is possible that her disfigurement was done deliberately by Art as a way to make her one of his followers, and to resurrect himself after he was killed by Sienna.
