The idea of Diana having divine roots was repeated in the Wonder Woman series from DC's New 52 era, where it was revealed that Wonder Woman's Father was Zeus. This gave her a direct link to divinity by making her a literal demigod.

New 52. To reproduce and keep the Amazon race alive, the Themyscirans raid ships on the high seas and copulate with men. At the end of the mating, they take their lives and throw their corpses into the sea rather than marry them. Triumphant, the Amazons return to Paradise Island, and wait.
Does Wonder Woman ever have a child? Depends on the storyline you follow. Wonder Woman has two children, fathered by Superman. The oldest, a daughter, is somewhat rebellious, trying to find 'her' way, the youngest, a boy, is a bit to young to do so.
Diana was born circa 3000 BC on the newly created island of Themyscira, to Zeus, the King of the Old Gods, and Hippolyta, the Queen of the Amazons, mere months after the end of War of the Gods. Zeus intended for the child to one day grow strong enough to defeat Ares, the God of War.

Sometimes she's actually written as impervious to conventional projectiles. She just deflects them with her bracelets because she enjoys doing that. But originally she was indeed vulnerable to bullets while still having an enormous durability to blunt force impact.
Though Diana had saved Themyscira, with the help of the other League members, she had broken the sacred law that forbade anyone from bringing men to the island. Because of her actions, Hippolyta was forced to banish Diana from Themyscira.
