Jenny is the daughter of the series protagonist the Doctor, a product of altered DNA extracted from a tissue sample of his tenth incarnation's hand. The character was created by writer Stephen Greenhorn.

In truth, Jenny regenerated after the Doctor's departure, oddly retaining the same face and form as her first incarnation. Jenny ran away from the place of her birth, excited to explore new worlds and meet new people, demonstrating the same adventurer's spirit as the Doctor.
River Song would be Susan's Step Grandmother and Jenny would be her Aunt, if Susan is the Doctor's Granddaughter. Since River married the Doctor, she becomes step Grandmother to Susan.
