One major character surprisingly still missing from Beetlejuice 2 is Geena Davis' Barbara Maitland, who died alongside her husband Adam in the opening scene of Beetlejuice.

Summary. Lydia Deetz could see the dead in Beetlejuice because she wasn't afraid of death, unlike the other living characters who were arrogant and ignored their own mortality. Lydia's fascination with morbid topics and her desire to live with the ghosts in the attic further solidify her lack of fear towards death.
