Jonathan Frakes made no secret about how he hadn't acted in years and how nervous he was when he got the call to reprise Captain Will Riker in Star Trek: Picard season 1. In Picard season 3, however, Frakes has comfortably relaxed into the role of Riker, and Jonathan feels there is much more fun to be had.
By the time they were both stationed aboard the USS Enterprise-D, Riker and Troi had settled into a warm, close friendship. At the age of 64, Will goes back into active duty with Starfleet. Star Trek: Picard season 3 has one of the best versions of Will Riker, and he jumps at the chance to aid Picard in his mission to rescue Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden).
Thad also has a younger sister, Kestra (Lulu Wilson). Thad became ill with a rare disease, prompting the Riker family to effectively retire from active Starfleet duty and relocate to the restorative planet Nepenthe. Despite their efforts, Thad succumbed to his illness as a teenager.
Summary. Q's relationship with Captain Picard was unique and based on love, which made their interactions special and meaningful. Q's appearances on other Star Trek shows lacked the same spark because his connection with Picard was personal and couldn't be replicated.
Q, on the other hand, takes an intensely disdainful attitude towards beings he views as “inferior.” Picard was correct that respect is earned and Q has done nothing worthy of earning it. This concept, foreign to Q, explains his obsession with Jean-Luc Picard.
Q says “Mon Capitaine.” Picard is French. At the beginning of the series, there was an attempt by the writers to always annoy Picard by having someone make an off comment about the Captain's French ancestory.
Troi's history with Riker had been introduced in the pilot episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, "Encounter at Farpoint"; this also included the word imzadi, a Betazoid term of endearment usually translated as "beloved".

') The creators do go some way to explain this is the show. Q appears at first as the young that man Picard and audiences know, thanks to some fancy de-aging CGI. He would then snap his fingers to appear much older to match his old friend Picard, turning himself into de Lancie as he looks today.
Though he clearly has the credentials necessary to be an Admiral, Riker has had other priorities over the years. When Jean-Luc visits him on Nepenthe in Star Trek: Picard season 1, Riker has taken a break from Starfleet to spend time with his family after the death of his son.
Captain Picard never appeared on Star Trek: Voyager. He was mentioned once by Deana Troi (who did appear, but never met Janeway) in the episode “Pathfinder”. Will Riker and Deanna Troi Aren't Getting a Divorce, but They Were in Trouble. While running from trouble in Season 1, Jean-Luc stayed with Will and Deanna on Nepenthe, a planet whose climate was helpful for Thad. He suffered from a disease that had no viable cure.
Since Pierce was dead at the time of the action, there was no way that Worf and Troi could have interviewed him. And they were shown to have slept together after their interview with him. Also Geordi states that there were no bones found, so that was part of Deanna's vision too.
They have a daughter, Kestra — who loves language and is a pacifist, and they had a son, Thad, who died of a mandaxic neurosclerosis. (Say that three times fast.) And our favorite Trek couple does not hesitate to help Picard hide for a bit. But that was just a plot device to get Riker and Troi into an episode.
