In the movie Shrek, one of the conflicts was Shrek's fear of not being liked or respected by other people (especially by Princess Fiona) because he is an ogre. That is called the inner conflict; it is what goes on inside the character.
This is Shrek's central emotional problem... He sees himself as an unlovable monster. By the end of the movie he realizes that nothing is what it seems and that all things must be judged by their actions (or 'it's what's on the inside that counts).
Shrek encounters physical obstacles (a fire-breathing dragon) as well as emotional obstacles (he is reluctant to become friends with Donkey and cannot admit his love for Fiona). The hero learns, about himself or the world, from overcoming these obstacles.
Weaknesses. Few long ranged options. His roar doesn't always work on his friends (or someone who doesn't see him as a threat), other creatures or monsters.
Later in the film, when Shrek has experienced his worst nightmare—rejection by Fiona—and when he in turn has pushed Donkey away, he retreats into an outhouse. Now this symbol of solitude represents all his fears of getting close to others, and of literally shutting them out.

Interests… spending time alone, routines, and the simple life. Shrek's lonely life is called into question when Donkey shows up and won't shut up, forcing Shrek to engage in social conversation – which Shrek claims to hate.
