Alien: Isolation ends with Amanda floating in space after destroying the ship the xenomorph was brought back on, the space station, and the ship she arrived on. She risks drifting in space until her oxygen runs out all in the vain of ensuring every single xenomorph is exterminated.
This game, set 15 years after the events of Alien and 42 years before the events of Aliens, features Ripley's daughter Amanda. Amanda was originally introduced in the extended version of Aliens, when Ripley learns that during her 57-years long stasis, Amanda grew up, married, and died.
Amanda is the main protagonist of Alien: Isolation. Approximately twenty-five years of age, Amanda is an engineer in the employ of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. She is resourceful and tough of character, although emotionally scarred by the disappearance of her mother, Ellen Ripley.

Did Ripley have a daughter in Alien?
Amanda is the daughter of Sigourney Weaver's character Ellen Ripley. The story is set fifteen years after the events of the original Alien film as Amanda goes out into the dark reaches of space to find out what happened to her mom.
Ripley then started to feel sick and had shortness of breath; she thought it was a side effect from abruptly waking from hypersleep. Regardless, she then had Francis Aaron help her run a scan in the EEV and she then discovered she had been impregnated by a facehugger and had a Queen gestating inside her.
Apparently she was impregnated when her cryotube was compromised and the face hugger's acid blood disrupted the Sulaco's peaceful voyage home. Why did Ripley hate aliens so much in aliens and Alien3 when she had no issue with them before that?
Upon her reunion with Ripley 8 (now exhibiting Xenomorph traits) the Queen had moved past the egg laying stage and developed a massive womb, Ripley's genetic "gift", according to the maddened Dr. Gediman. The Newborn emerges from the womb, the Queen's first live birth.
Unfortunately Ripley was carrying a Queen Alien embryo inside of her, which the company, Weyland Yutani, wanted to preserve to produce biological weapons. Ripley kills herself to avoid this. Centuries after the death of Ripley, scientists were able to clone her using DNA acquired from the incidents in Alien 3.
After Ripley finds a way to kill the xenomorph, she finds out that the survivors are victorious against the remaining W-Y security forces. The remaining survivors send out a distress signal from the colonial ship beacon and state, and decide to name the area after Hadley "This is the survivors of Hadley's Hope.
Below him appears to be one of the alien's many eggs, partially encompassing Brett's body. Fearing that Dallas will meet the same fate as Brett clearly has, Ripley uses her flamethrower to torch the resin, killing Dallas and sparing him the horror of being absorbed into a Xenomorph egg.
Ricardo is Marshal Waits second in command. He's in charge of helping Amanda Ripley trap the Alien. But when their original plan fails, he guides Ripley to another location to trap the alien. He is one of the few survivors when the androids go rogue.
Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley (officially designated as Ripley 8), reprising her role from the previous three Alien films. After having sacrificed herself to kill the Alien queen gestating inside her in Alien 3, Ripley has been cloned using blood samples so that the military may extract the queen embryo.
In Alien 3, Ripley gets infected with a Xenomorph embryo by a Facehugger and lands on a prison planet following the unceremonious deaths of Hicks and Newt.
The alien-fighting warrant officer revealed her shaved head in the third instalment of the successful franchise, which had her stranded on a prison spaceship. “I think it brings out the faces and the vulnerability of these actors very much,” she said of her and her fellow cast mate's shorn locks.
Two possibilities immediately present themselves: She was infested with an embryo that was eventually meant to become a queen. It's possible the gestation time for that particular xenomorph form is longer, to allow for more complex brain development or the like. She was infested while she was still in hibernation.
Ripley 8 subsequently became involved in the Xenomorph outbreak and infestation aboard the Auriga. While outwardly human, cross-contamination of DNA between Ripley 8 and the Xenomorph inside her endowed Ripley 8 with several Xenomorph attributes; essentially, she was neither human nor alien, but something in between.
This Alien is different from the ones in previous installments due to its host being quadrupedal (a dog in the theatrical cut, an ox in the assembly cut). Initially a visual effects supervisor, Woodruff decided to take the role of the creature after his company, Amalgamated Dynamics, was hired by Fox.
The Alien, covered in molten metal, escapes the mold and is killed by Ripley when she turns on fire sprinklers and sprays the beast with water, causing its exoskeleton to cool rapidly and shatter via thermal shock.
In Alien 3, that hasn't changed, and they want the embryo that Ripley is carrying. Deciding it is best to destroy the embryo, Ripley decides to sacrifice herself after killing the Xenomorph, refusing to let Weyland-Yutani take her in alive. She dives into the furnace, destroying both herself and the embryo inside her.
The role of Ripley in Alien was originally written for a man, however, Sigourney Weaver's casting went on to change the portrayal of women in Sci-Fi. Ellen Ripley has strong leadership qualities upheld by her strength and resourcefulness, which were not seen in representations of women at the time.
