If you have played Infamous 1 & 2 then you know that Kessler came back in time to help prepare younger cole for the beast since Kessler was unable to beat him. The good ending of Infamous 2 shows Cole dieing from battling the beast.
During this now-canonical ending, Cole defeats a powerful, destruction-crazed Conduit known as the Beast and then sets off a genetic bomb called the Ray Field Inhibitor (RFI), which not only kills Cole but destroys all the Conduit genes around the world, thereby ridding the world of the Conduit “plague.”
Cole dies in the good ending. We see his body loaded into a coffin and Zeke takes it out to sea. But as the boat drifts off into the horizon and the screen starts to black out a bolt of lightning seemingly and ominously strikes the boat.
He obviously played a huge part of the inFamous universe, but no one in the game acknowledge him. Obviously he can't be in the game since he is dead, but at least mention him. They mention him in the DLC, and NPCS mention you saying your cole's legacy or something to that effect. At least on the good path.
Cole's appearance in Infamous 2 doesn't deviate much from his design in the first Infamous; he still retains his chiseled face and bald head, but his clothing has changed so that he can adapt to the humid weather of the New Orleans-inspired city.

Who is stronger Cole or Delsin?
In terms of power and skill, Cole had Delsin outmatched. Throughout his career, Cole's fought Conduits who are several times stronger than himself, such as Alden Tate, a powerful telekenetic who created a monster created from the surrounding metal from the destroyed bridge they were on.
As a ghost, Cole's body was no longer tangible. His face was a pale green and the rest of his body was transparent. He was outlined by a pale green and appeared to glow like other ghosts do. During Day of the Departed, Cole was thrown into the rift to the Departed Realm by Yang, reverting him to a human once again.
It's assumed Cole laid down his life and fired up the RFI as the good ending is the canon ending for Infamous 2. The RFI killed a bunch of Conduits around the world including the beast, but not all of them. The Beast came thru and augmented several cities before he got to New Marais.
Cole Turner is the ex-husband of Phoebe Halliwell and the father of Julian Turner, who was believed to have been lost. Initially a half-demon, he became mortal after falling in love with Phoebe, though he later became the Source of All Evil after being possessed by the evil essence.
Cole MacGrath is the protagonist, anti-hero/anti-villain of inFamous, inFamous 2, and inFamous: Festival of Blood. However, because of the Karma system that is entirely based on what choices you make in the games (with the exception of Festival of Blood), Cole can be recognized as a Hero or Villain.
Second Son takes place in 2018, seven years after Infamous 2's Conduit protagonist Cole MacGrath sacrifices himself to cure humanity of a plague and destroy the Beast. Cole uses the powerful Ray Field Inhibitor weapon, which kills him and most of the other Conduits.
In the evil ending, Cole sides with White, causing Nix and Zeke to turn against him and steal the RFI. Together with Kuo and the Beast, Cole rampages through New Marais, killing Laroche and what remains of the Militia. He eventually catches up with his former friends, killing them and destroying the RFI.
At the end of InFamous 2, fans are given the choice to either side with the Beast or go against him and fight for humanity. If Cole picks the good ending, he will fight the Beast, fix the RFI, and use it to kill everyone with the conduit gene.
Though Cole eventually rids himself of his demonic nature and marries Phoebe in season four, he later returns to evil after he unwillingly becomes the new Source of All Evil. This causes the sisters to kill him towards the end of season four.
Yang tells Cole he wanted to be immortal so he wouldn't be forgotten, but Cole assures Yang he'll be remembered as the creator of Airjitzu. Cole crosses through the rift and becomes a human once more, but the rift almost closes the moment he crosses through it, giving him a ghostly green scar on his face.
As they try to escape before sunrise, Cole drops the scroll and quickly goes back to retrieve it. Unfortunately, he fails to get out in time, and the curse of the temple turns him into a ghost.
Battles are accompanied by realistic gunfire, cries of pain, and spurts of blood. Players have the ability to attack random civilians, though the activity is not encouraged. During some action-cutscene sequences, players can choose to spare or kill a character (choking a man with a chain).
Infamous Second Son is the third game in the series, released in March 2014. Set seven years after the events of Infamous 2, the game introduces a new character, Delsin Rowe, a graffiti artist who absorbs the power from other prime conduits.
You don't need to for Second Son. Different protagonist and the story takes place 7 years after the end of inFamous 2. If you play the previous games then you'll probably appreciate Second Son more but really not a requirement.
In "Day of the Departed," Cole gained a green scar when he transformed back into a human via the Rift of Return. As of Season 8, the scar is orange and appears only when Cole uses his Earth Punch. Cole is the first Master of Earth to have this ability.
They split off into three teams: Lloyd and Arin, Nya and Sora & Kai and Wyldfyre. Together, they search the Merged realms looking for the cores, coming across new elemental masters, Cole, and even new creatures.
Back at Borg Tower, Lloyd discovers the Golden Armor and learns that its power can withstand the Oni. Nya tasks Kai with melting down the armor and recasting it. As the ninja head for a village with a forge, it's revealed that Cole is not dead, merely stuck on a ledge inside the cloud of darkness.
