Casting. The film was originally intended to include Brother Zee Blues (Jim Belushi). But due to an already existing television deal (he had been cast in the ABC drama Total Security), he was unable to appear and the script was altered to include Cab Blues (Joe Morton).

Catherine Evelyn Smith (April 25, 1947 – August 16, 2020) was a Canadian occasional backup singer, rock groupie, drug dealer, and legal secretary. Smith served 15 months in the California state prison system for injecting actor John Belushi with a fatal dose of heroin and cocaine in 1982.
Everyone left except for Belushi and Smith. Smith later reported that, alarmed by the sound of his breathing, she woke Belushi up at about 9:30 AM and asked if he was okay. “Just don't leave me alone,” he replied.
In August 2020, Belushi started a Discovery Channel series about his life at his cannabis farm in Oregon, called Growing Belushi. In August 2022, Belushi appeared as Brother Zee, with Aykroyd and The Blues Brothers Band, at the first Blues Brothers Con event held at Old Joliet Prison.
