Ren tells Han that he knows what he should do, but that he doesn't have the strength to do it. He asks Han to help him, and Han agrees. After a moment, Ren ignites his lightsaber, impaling and fatally wounding his father. Han looks into his son's eyes and touches his face before falling off the bridge to his death.
Ren refused and fatally impaled Solo with his lightsaber. In Solo's last moments, he looked in his son's eyes and touched his son's face, before falling down a shaft towards the core of Starkiller Base to his death.
But this is actually a very sad reason because it actually had the opposite effect, and he deeply regretted his decision to kill his father and it haunted him for the rest of the trilogy. Also, Han was telling him that Snoke was using him, but one of the reasons he killed him was to impress Snoke.

Why was Han Solo killed off?
Han Solo's death in The Force Awakens (2015) came about when writer/director J. J. Abrams felt the character was not evolving or contributing to the story's development; he believed that Kylo Ren killing his own father would give him a chance to develop into a worthy successor for Darth Vader.
In response, Leia calls Han a “stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder.” In Star Wars #17 by Jason Aaron and Leinil Francis Yu, fans learn that 'nerf-herder' wasn't really an insult so much as something that Han just did one time.
Not only did Ben care little for the Jedi, he also viewed Luke as the person keeping him away from his parents. And the strict rules of the Order only made matters worse, as Ben felt they limited his potential, and forced him to forgo attachments.
Ben Solo, son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, was once a promising Jedi apprentice taught by his uncle Luke Skywalker. But under the influence of the mysterious Snoke, Ben rejected Luke's teachings and destroyed his temple, leaving with several of his uncle's students and killing the rest.

Chewbacca was a wise, sophisticated being of great strength and loyalty. As technologically savvy as the brightest Academy graduate, he was also a skilled mechanic.
While they may not have had romantic love for each other, they became close enough that Rey would miss him after his death. The kiss at the end of The Rise of Skywalker was a goodbye to a friend who would be dearly missed.
In 28 ABY, a confrontation initiated by Skywalker resulted in Solo turning against the Jedi and falling to the dark side. Solo destroyed his master's training temple, killing his fellow students, then fled to join Snoke. He killed and replaced the leader of the Knights of Ren under a new persona, Kylo Ren.
He saw her as a useful tool for his rise to power. He was intrigued by the mystery surrounding her. He wanted closure for his defeat at her hands. He had a genuine emotional connection to her.
I suggest that when Ren's emotional outbursts, impulsivity, and unstable self-concept are looked at more closely, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that he suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder and that perhaps he is simply not just a cold-hearted villain after all.
JJ Abrams told Empire in August 2015, "Kylo Ren is not a Sith. He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the dark side of the Force." Abrams had previously stated that the character "came to the name Kylo Ren when he joined a group called the Knights of Ren."
The original script called for Leia to say, "I love you," and Han would reply, "I love you, too." Except that on-set, no one was happy with how that exchange felt. They tried it over and over until finally, director Irvin Kershner asked Harrison Ford to improvise. "I love you," Carrie Fisher said in the next take.
Yoda cryptically responded, "No, there is another." While some fans would make careers out of writing possible futures for these characters years later, many sitting in the theaters at that time had no idea what that quote implied. Now, fans know that Yoda was referring to Leia Organa.
Anticipating Solo's arrival, Darth Vader and Boba Fett had already forced Lando to betray Han and Princess Leia. Lando agreed to turn Han over in return for a guarantee that the Empire would leave Cloud City alone.
