Previously, Taylor had warned that switching tanks increased the danger of "nitrogen narcosis," which led to Lisa's vivid hallucination of saving Kate. Lisa is eventually saved by divers and is taken back to the boat, and comes to accept her sister was killed by the shark.
In the reality of 47 Meters Down's ending, Kate is shark bait. She's dead. Lisa survives. But at least for a moment, Lisa got the happy ending we wished for her and her sister.
Kate leaves the cage to retrieve the air tanks and also finds three flares, but as she returns to the cage, she is attacked and (presumably) devoured by a great white shark.
Upon making it onto the boat, she is attacked by a shark then pulls in until Mia jumps back into the water with a flare gun and shoots the shark, saving her.

The harness starts to come loose with their combined weight, and although Nicole reaches the top, she slips and falls back down into the water before being quickly killed by two sharks.
However, though the plot may very well be loosely based on similar stories when it comes to the specific story of Lisa and Kate fighting for their lives in Mexico's waters, the project isn't actually based on any true survival stories.
It doesn't try to introduce compelling characters, the shark sequences fall flat for the most part, and the screenplay is filled with laughable plot points.

Grant explains that the only way out is to swim back down even deeper in order to find another exit, which will let them come out in the ocean, but is killed by a shark moments later.
Lisa, under tremendous emotional and physical stress (possibly brought on by the bends and a shark bite) then hallucinates being back on the bottom of the ocean alone. The second ending is reality. Lisa, with her oxygen tank running low, hallucinates the initial escape with her sister.

In early May 2024, FilmNation announced the third entry in the 47 Meters Down film series, 47 Meters Down: The Wreck. Patrick Lussier (Play Dead) will direct the film from a script by Johannes Roberts and Ernest Riera. The duo penned the scripts for the first two films as well, and Roberts directed them.
Luckily, Fall is entirely a piece of fiction that isn't based a specific true story. Even from Fall's first trailer it was clear that the movie was an exaggerated tale.
While "shark movie" might seem formulaic at this point, Johannes Roberts' film adds even more terrifying elements by plunging its leads deep underwater—47 meters down, specifically—with oxygen running out, spotty reception, the possibility of dying from the bends (caused by dissolved gases) and, on top of it all, ...
At 47 meters even an experienced diver with a fantastic air consumption rate would quickly drain their scuba cylinder, probably in less than 20 minutes. An inexperienced diver swimming, talking and being harassed by sharks MIGHT make it five minutes at that depth.

Were they actually underwater in 47 Meters Down: Uncaged?
The underwater scenes were captured back in the UK at Basildon and the legendary, Pinewood Studios. “When we shot it in Pinewood, my trailer would look out on all the Star Wars stuff,” recalls Director Johannes Roberts with a child-like grin. “We had both underwater stages at Pinewood and Basildon.
Much of the diving in the film is in fact, inaccurate. Based on the information provided by an experienced diver (via Discover Magazine), much of the information surrounding the SCUBA diving in 47 Meters Down was unreliable.
By the end of the film, Mia is the remaining survivor along with Sasha and, because of the events, they become real close while their wounds are being treated.
Unfortunately, in an unexpectedly dark twist that subverts the traditional slasher movie's Final Girl cliche, Alexa's good behavior doesn't result in her survival. Instead, she earns the saddest death of the entire sequel.
All the Great Whites seen in the movie were computer generated. However, as any modern movie actor will tell you, they as well as the digital artists need something on the set for eyelines to follow and animated creatures to be properly placed within the frame.
