As Darth Vader, Anakin led the Empire's eradication of the Jedi Order. He told Padmé of his plan to overthrow Palpatine and rule the galaxy with her, but the idea sickened her.
Consumed by the persona of Darth Vader, the fallen Jedi Knight marched his legion on the Jedi Temple of Coruscant where they executed its inhabitants, including Jedi younglings, as part of Order 66 and the Great Jedi Purge.

Anakin does not have even the slightest bit of remorse. By the end, he feels nothing but anger. Although he feels regret for killing Padme, he still helps the evil Emperor. The film ends with Anakins standing side by side with the man on whose behalf he has committed all his crimes.
What happens to Padme after Anakin becomes Darth Vader?
Palpatine lied to him, telling him that his strangulation had killed Padmé, which left Vader heartbroken. Unknown to Vader, Padmé died elsewhere after giving birth to twins, Luke and Leia. The infants were adopted for their safety, and grew up with no knowledge of their father or each other.
The added risk Darth Vader takes in allowing children to live in a situation where he could have killed them proves that he regrets killing Younglings and will avoid harming any more children for the rest of his days, though intense intimidation is a dark strategy to avoid repeating his Youngling massacre.

The realistic answer seems to be, yes, Anakin in his prime could have defeated Luke Skywalker (in the current canon) if they battled one-on-one. The main reason behind this is Luke's lack of formal Jedi training, at least when it comes to combat.

Anakin's vision did come true, as Padmé, heartbroken by her husband's downfall, loses her will to live and succumbs while giving birth to twins. Before her death, Padmé still believed there was still good left in Anakin and that one day he could be saved with the help of their children.
He would have been in his 30s for most of Rebels. He was in his 40s during the original trilogy, 41 standard in 3277 (Rogue One, ANH), and 45 when he died in 3281.

In RotJ Darth Vader lifted Darth Sidious over his head and threw him down the exhaust vent/conveniently located plot hole (literal hole) whilst being electrocuted by Darth Sidious' Force Lightning.
