Elsa, princess of Arendelle and heiress to the throne, is born with the ability to create and control ice and snow. As a child, she uses her abilities to create a winter wonderland to play in with her younger sister and best friend, Princess Anna. One night, Elsa accidentally harms Anna with her powers.
Elsa from Frozen was originally intended to be an evil queen with an army of snow monsters. That's according to the animated film's producer Peter Del Vecho, who says they completely re-wrote the ending. "When we started off, Anna and Elsa were not sisters," he told EW. "They weren't even royal.
Through self-isolation and a pair of enchanted gloves, Elsa grew up keeping a precarious hold on her powers. According to her parents, the secret was to “Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know.” Although her loving parents were well intentioned, they made Elsa feel that she could never really be herself.
When Elsa's ice palace is under attack, the colour of her ice changes depending on her current emotion. For instance, the ice is yellow when she combats Duke Westleton and his soldiers. However, the ice becomes purple or turns into a dark colour when she struggles to control her magic. The colour reflects her fear.
Elsa risks her own death trying to get to Ahtohallan. (She is mercifully saved by a spooky horse-spirit.) Once there, she sees a vision of her late mom, which almost made me cry. But then Elsa falls down a hole, loses all her powers, and turns into an ice sculpture herself.
While they're in there, Anna and Elsa also discover another twist: They're half-Northuldran. Their mother, it turns out, was a tribe member who saved their father during the battle, escaped with him out of the forest, and later married him.
Under this stress, Elsa accidentally injures Anna with her powers. Their parents, the King and Queen of Arendelle, take Anna to the magical trolls who heal her but also alter her memories so that she has no knowledge of Elsa's powers. This fright led the King and Queen to isolate both Elsa and Anna from the kingdom.
Although Elsa's disability is encoded as a magical ice power, the language the film uses to talk about her condition maps on to the experiences of people with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities in recognizable ways.
But she also has hidden disabilities — obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety disorder. So Elsa, the queen whose hidden condition is dramatically revealed, feels like an ally. "Elsa says, 'I don't care what they're going to say,' and I love that line," Liebowitz says.
Queen Elsa is one of the main characters of the movie. She has a strikingly beautiful appearance, long platinum blonde hair, and a pair of ice blue-colored eyes that matches very well with her porcelain complexion. For an animated character, she is mesmerizingly pretty.
Both characters have two daughters (Agnarr is the father to Elsa and Anna, while Big Bob is the father to Olga and Helga). In Frozen II, Agnarr is voiced by Alfred Molina, while Iduna is voiced by Evan Rachel Wood. The two had previously voiced the Fairy King and his daughter, Marianne, respectively, in Strange Magic.
In the first Frozen movie, Elsa's age was 21, while Anna was 18. Considering Frozen revolved around Elsa's coronation, it's refreshing to see that Arendelle waited until she was a more appropriate age to receive the queen title. Frozen II occurred after a 3-year time jump, with Elsa now 24 and Anna 21.
The implication, and it's only ever just that, is that Elsa and Anna's mother is herself somehow attuned to the magical forces such that Elsa was given the gift of superpowers. (Why Anna never received such powers is equally vaguely defined: just as Elsa and Anna's father had no powers, so too would she be power-free.
The palace's ambiance also responds to how Elsa feels about herself - when Elsa is happy and empowered, the palace is blue; when Elsa is embracing herself, the palace is purple; when Elsa is fearful, the palace becomes red, and causes ice shards and cracks to appear throughout the wall; when Elsa is angry, the palace ...
Due to the bad blood between their people, Iduna kept both her heritage and her rescue of Agnarr in the forest a secret for many years, though she finally confessed everything to him shortly before their deaths.
Elsa sings “Let It Go” from her place of isolation. She's frustrated at the way she's been forced to hide what she is capable of and, over the course of the song, resolves to accept her powers rather than live in fear of them.
Basically, Elsa calls it a curse because she sees it as one, but it isn't; she was born with it. I think elsa inherited her powers from someone such as a grandfather, who was cursed with ice powers( notice the book).
Anna's parents rush her to the sacred realm, where discussions with the trolls reveal that Elsa was born with her powers/ depigmentation and deafness, rather than them being due to illness or accident. Grand Pabbie troll heals Anna but removes her memories of Elsa's magic.

Canonically, Elsa of Arendelle, who sits upon the tiny northern kingdom's throne at the end of Frozen, is not queer. Canonically, she is not romantically interested in anybody. And lest you wonder if that description means Elsa is asexual or aromantic, neither of those qualities is canon either.
Frozen explicitly shows the audience that Iduna and Agnarr's ship has sunk, killing both of the young princesses' parents. It's later revealed in Frozen 2 that the king and queen were traveling to Ahtohallan, a magical glacier in the north, and Frozen's sequel again confirms that Anna and Elsa's parents died at sea.
The simplest, and most likely answer is, Anna isn't locked in the castle. That's Elsa's fate. Anna is fifteen when her parents die, and turns eighteen shortly before Elsa's coronation. So she's been too young to set her own social calendar, even assuming Arendelle is large enough to have many high society functions.
