Sabor is a dangerous, mysterious, aggressive, ferocious, destructive, and powerful leopard who is feared throughout the jungle. Notably, she is the only animal character in the film (other than the baboons) who never speaks, instead communicating with snarls and roars.

In the film's retelling Tarzan's parents are killed by Sabor the leopard, and Kala saves the infant Tarzan from Sabor, not Kerchak. Her own child having been previously killed by the same leopard, Kala adopts Tarzan as her own, though Kerchak disapproves of this.

Jad-bal-ja, the Golden Lion is a fictional character in Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan novels, and in adaptations of the saga to other media, particularly comics.
George Carlin as Zugor, an old hermit gorilla living in a hollow tree on Dark Mountain. He is the "monster" feared by Tarzan and almost all the animals, even Sabor before she was killed by the adult version of Tarzan in the first film.
Sabor is the overarching antagonist of Tarzan. She is the generic Mangani word for a female lion, sometimes also used for other large cats without a mane. In the original 1912 serialized printing of Tarzan of the Apes, Burroughs used “sabor” as the word for tigers.

In the literature. In the books, the apes of Tarzan's adoptive tribe are absolutely not gorillas. Burroughs seemed to consider their species as more human, a kind of "missing link" between animals and humans.
Is Terk a boy or a girl? Terk (voiced by Rosie O. Donnell) is basically a very masculine female, an arquetype rarely seen in film in general. Another example of this trend is Private Vasquez in James Cameron's "Aliens".
