She is unhappy in her marriage, she feels like her daughter needs to be a fool to be happy, and she ultimately feels bored and discontent with her life.
Tom Buchanan is Daisy's wealthy, arrogant husband, who stands in Gatsby's way of being with Daisy. Despite continually cheating on his wife, Tom desires to end Daisy's affair with Gatsby and ends up exposing him as a bootlegger, which completely ruins Gatsby's chances of having a future with her.
