Saddest: Anna's Accident There's an air of playfulness and adventure surrounding both of them, but that's abruptly cut short when Elsa accidentally hurts Anna with her power one night. The near-fatal injury is one that Anna appears to quickly get over -- but Elsa is never the same afterward.
As in many Disney movies, the parents die, here leaving orphaned princesses who must find a way to survive. There are a few other violent scenes that involve men with weapons, snarling wolves, a scary snow monster, a severe storm, and a character who nearly freezes to death.
Frozen handles the deaths of Anna and Elsa's parents, Queen Iduna and King Agnarr, pretty gracefully (it helps that their shipwreck is during "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?"). In Frozen 2, however, we learn more details about their deaths, and it's pretty sad.
Elsa was taught to conceal her powers and her emotions, which led to them becoming uncontrollable as she kept pushing them down. She always wanted protect Anna as evidenced in her actions (explained above), so when she sees Anna frozen she is horrified because her sister is dead, showing love for her now-dead sister.
Climactic Moment: When she sees Elsa about to be killed by Hans, Anna forgoes her true love's kiss from Kristoff and sacrifices her life to save her sister. Resolution: Anna's sacrifice, her “act of true love” for Elsa, thaws the ice in her heart, and she returns to life.
In an overall sense, Frozen 2 has a better storyline than its predecessor. It deals with some heavier themes, has different consequences, it's just stronger overall. Frozen 2 goes deeper, and digs into Elsa and Anna's background in some new ways.
Say the names quickly in sequence to hear the similarity. According to Jennifer Lee, Anna is 18 years old in the film, while both Elsa and Kristoff are 21 years old and Hans is 23 years old.
With only a fruitcake, Olaf journeys into the woods, and is attacked by vicious wolves while traversing through. He narrowly escapes them, but loses the fruitcake shortly thereafter to a hawk. Depressed at having failed Anna and Elsa, Olaf wanders into the night, depressed, and figures it would be best to remain lost.
When Elsa's ice palace is under attack, the colour of her ice changes depending on her current emotion. For instance, the ice is yellow when she combats Duke Westleton and his soldiers. However, the ice becomes purple or turns into a dark colour when she struggles to control her magic. The colour reflects her fear.
Frozen is a Disney animated musical adventure suitable for families and most children over five years. The movie entertains from start to finish, but it does have some scary scenes and characters that might disturb younger viewers.
Some parts may be difficult for younger or sensitive kids, although my kid was fine. For several minutes of the movie, two main characters are thought to be dead and we see the intense grief of a remaining character. If this upsets your kids but they still want to watch, you may tell them the ending will be happy.
Olaf the snowman is known for his comedic love of summer, his childlike innocence, and ever-cheerful demeanor. However, he was originally conceived as one of the evil Elsa's snowman guards, with an attitude befitting an evil minion.
Although Elsa's disability is encoded as a magical ice power, the language the film uses to talk about her condition maps on to the experiences of people with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities in recognizable ways.
Elsa fears she will not be accepted by her sister or her town. This feeling worsens as her parents pass away. Now with no one having knowledge of her powers the pressure increases for her to stay hidden. As she becomes required to attend her coronation, she begins overthinking how she will keep her powers hidden.
Indeed, as there are no condoms or any other reliable form of birth control in the frontier, there's a real possibility that Ennis really did impregnate Elsa. Sadly, before 1883 could even drop any clues that Elsa was pregnant, Ennis died in the next episode while Elsa died during the finale.
Later, Elsa and Sam spend the night together which shows this isn't a flash in the pan romance, and that the pair are serious about their relationship. Elsa tells her mother just as much the next morning, but agrees to ride with them to Oregon before eventually returning to Sam.
In the first Frozen movie, Elsa's age was 21, while Anna was 18. Considering Frozen revolved around Elsa's coronation, it's refreshing to see that Arendelle waited until she was a more appropriate age to receive the queen title. Frozen II occurred after a 3-year time jump, with Elsa now 24 and Anna 21.
The people of Arendelle are joyously preparing for her coronation day. Anna (now 18) is flushed with excitement as the castle gates are opened for the first time since the sisters' childhood.
Moana's age, 16, is less of an issue in her story as it doesn't include a romantic plot, but it still relies on a young girl to overcome dangerous challenges and save the world. Disney princesses have always had an age problem, with characters as young as 14 falling in love, defying parents, and getting married.
