Originally Answered: Why did the Tin Man cry in the poppy field when Dorothy is falling asleep? Because the script says he should. Really, this scene is handled much better in the book. Toto, Dorothy, and CL (being meat people) fall asleep and Nick Chopper and the Scarecrow can't wake them.
Weaknesses of the Tin Man are that he has no heart and therefore feels hollow. He is torn about the fact that he doesn't have one. The tin man can't do much himself unless he's oiled, or in terms of a team, can't do much and is restricted.
