Jason Todd's death in 1988 is probably the most popular death that's ever befallen a Robin. "A Death in the Family" ran from Batman #426–429 thanks to the creative team of Jim Starlin, Jim Aparo, Mike DeCarlo, John Costanza and Adrienne Roy. Joker tortured and beat Jason with a crowbar.
But every single Robin has died at one point or another, Dick Grayson was killed by Lex Luthor in the pages of Forever Evil by Geoff Johns and David Finch. Batman then takes him in and raises him as the new Robin, though realizes early on that Jason has a violent streak. After Jason is killed by the Joker and resurrected in the Lazarus Pit, he goes on to become the Red Hood, straining his relationship with Batman.
Since she was killed within a dreamscape, Robin isn't physically dead but was instead inflicted with a "spiritual death" likely by the Memory Zone Meme "Something Unto Death".

One of the Joker's one biggest claims to fame is the fact he murdered the second Robin, Jason Todd, but looking back at the event shows Joker never actually wanted credit for his most famous crime at all.
On this month's Waiting on the Trade, we discussed Batman: A Death in the Family, the landmark story in which the Joker brutally murdered the second Robin, Jason Todd.
Jason Todd was the second Robin and perhaps the most tragic of proteges taken on by Batman. Jason would meet the caped crusader while trying to steal the wheels off of the Batmobile. Seeing the poor condition Jason was in, Bruce took the young boy off the street and turned him into a crime fighter.
The story saw Joker capturing Jason Todd, beating him nearly to death with a crowbar, then leaving him in a building set to explode. Jason proved he was a hero to the end, using his final moments to save the mother who had betrayed him. The failure to save Jason would haunt Batman for years to come.
In the pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths continuity, the maturing Dick Grayson grows weary of his role as Batman's young sidekick. He renames himself Nightwing, recalling his adventure in the Kryptonian city of Kandor, where he and Batman meet the local hero of the same name.
He knew Jason was killing people, and Batman couldn't live with the shame of knowing that he had unintentionally created a deadlier version of Joe Chill. This explains the tragedy of what kept Batman away but also highlights his own selfishness and irresponsibility.
Traumatized, Batman takes Jason and Sheila's remains to Gotham and holds a burial with Alfred Pennyworth, Commissioner James Gordon, and Barbara Gordon. Batman blames himself for Jason's death and resolves to carry on alone, rejecting Alfred's suggestion to involve Dick Grayson, the first Robin.
Batman has trained many young heroes as Robin, and while they have all been impressive on their own, DC just confirmed that one stands above the others in terms of power: Damian Wayne is the most powerful Robin.

Jason Todd was one of the worst Robin's in comic book history. He was so hated that DC had a fan vote for whether Joker should kill Robin, and the fans voted to let the Boy Wonder die.
Though Jason Todd's death may be the most famous of all the Robins, it isn't exactly unique - everyone who's worn the costume has died at some point. The death of Jason Todd sticks in the minds not only of many Batman fans but of comic fans as a whole.
Joker also brings up the fact he knows there has been more than one Robin. The one he hates most isn't Jason Todd, the Robin he murdered in cold blood; it's actually Tim Drake. Joker admits that he actually rather liked Jason.
Robin did not become the Joker. The second Robin in the animated series, Tim Drake, was kidnapped by the Joker, tortured, and turned into a sidekick/pet of the Joker called Joker Junior. Batman rescued him, but he was so traumatized that he quit being Robin.
